Our Adventure is Over – Our Luggage Survived! – #BRXtravelgear

I find it hard to believe that I’ve been home for a week from our ‘adventure’ travels to Alaska.  Remember last month I wrote a post about the BRX Travel Gear that I purchased for our trip?  I wasn’t sure that I was ready to forego an upright suitcase for a rolling duffle, but I found that Briggs & Riley 28” Rolling Duffle was just the thing for our vacation.

The straps around the duffle and the inner sleeves, gave it structure (rather than it being all floppy), which in turn made it easier to pick up and load into vehicle trunks when we were transporting it to and from the airports.

Since it is a ‘Rolling’ Duffle, you assumed it has wheels and a handle…and you’d be right.  That makes it convenient to walk through the miles and miles of airport that you have to cover when leaving customs and getting to the greeting area where your family and friends await your arrival.

One of the first things you think about when hearing Alaska is wildlife, am I right?  Well we would see Hey it was a Disney Cruise – the Grizzly Bears are pretty tame!plenty of it when we arrived there, but first we actually had to arrive, which meant checking the luggage and giving it up to the baggage handlers.  Those of you that travel frequently on planes, trains and ships will know that porters and luggage carousels can be more devastating to your bags then a moose or a grizzly bear.  So I was all expecting to find my new bag in Vancouver looking less than stellar when we picked it up.

After my husband got it off the carousel, I inspected it for flaws, rips and dents.  You know what?  I couldn’t find one at all!

We’ve had other luggage that has stood up quite well to baggage handling (getting nicked and dented but not affecting the use of the luggage), but nothing like this one.  My BRX Rolling Duffle went through four flights, four sets of porters at the terminal and on the ship, and my uncle (whom probably was tougher on it than the other eight legs of travel), and the only souvenir it came home with was some surface dirt that wiped off with a damp cloth.

We easily stuffed it with our clean clothes, our dirty clothes, our packages, Mickey & Minnie and the unexpected heavy jackets we had to purchase in Skagway because it was MUCH colder than we had expected it to be.

The great thing about the Briggs & Riley Rolling Duffle is that its versatility will make it a luggage piece that we’ll use for more than just family vacations.  I can see it being used for weekend car trips and for storing out of season items.

So quite honestly in the almost 20 years that I’ve been traveling with my own luggage, I’ve been through a lot of different styles and types of bags.  There is usually something that I would change or prefer different on a particular make or model.  I really can say this bag had nothing that I would change.  Even the three colors it comes in (we chose the gray color) are perfect for identifying your bag quickly at the terminal.  The BRX Travel Gear comes with a price tag – but you get what you pay for, and their Rolling Duffle is worth every cent.

I’m kicking my stone age luggage to the curb and traveling well with my new Briggs & Riley gear!
