I don’t know when I first began using a Swiffer in my home, but after the first time I did I was hooked using it on my hard floors. The basic Swiffer is great for picking up hair, crumbs and dust, but on bigger objects like cereal spills, bobby pins or beads…not so much. Until now that is, because the newest Swiffer product is the Swiffer Sweep & Trap. You can buy it at Walmart and it’s a pretty neat clean up tool if you ask me.
It comes in a pretty small box, but no worries you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to put it together. A few pieces snap into each other, put the supplied Swiffer dry cloth in the appropriate spaces and you’re good to go. Want to see just what exactly the new Swiffer Sweep & Trap can handle?
Wood shavings. Now this isn’t a regular occurrence in my home to have a pile of wood shavings on the floor, but we’re putting the Swiffer Sweep & Trap through the paces.
Quite a bit got caught on the cloth, but notice the roller at the top? That ‘grabs’ the objects on the floor and traps them in the small canister attached to the front side of the Swiffer.
Emptying it is simple too, just push in the two gray buttons and that portion will lift off so you can toss the contents in the trash. Just snap it back in for the next time you’re ready to use it.
Okay it handled the light wood shavings but how about something a little more substantial, like nuts and bolts?
A couple of passes over the tile and they were all trapped in the Swiffer!
I have to say I had my doubts on whether the “trap” part of this new Swiffer would work, but it did exceptionally well for an affordable product and it’s a lot handier than having to haul out the vacuum cleaner to clean up a spilled mess. It has a place in my laundry room which is right off the kitchen, and I know it will get used often when one of us (and by us, I mean me ) accidently knocks over the rice container, spills the chocolate chips when pouring them into a mixing bowl or drops the safety pin container on the floor.
