Lulu.com is a self publishing and book printing solution site. The variety of material you can publish isnt’ limited to written books though, with Lulu.com you can also publish Ebooks, Photo Books and Calendars.
I like finding new companies that publish photo books, because I make a book of each of our vacations. I want to be able not just to get a quality product, but also to feel confident using the online software to make the book. I had the chance to create and publish a book at Lulu.com, and their online process is easy to use.
They offer a variety of templates and themes to get you started. I put together my book in one afternoon, and really the most difficult part was choosing which pictures to add to our vacation ‘story’.
The process of making my photo book included choosing a main theme, uploading my photos, a simple drag and drop, and adding some captions (the font selection to choose from for that is pretty good).
The finished product came out as a quality published piece. The weight of the paper is nice, and the photo’s color and sharpness were equal to what I viewed online.
The 20 page, 8.5″ x 8.5″ hardcover Photo Book I made runs $19.99, but their are other options too. You can get them with paperback covers, and in a variety of sizes, including wallet sized ones (how cute is that?).
Now is a good time to get those First Day of School pictures published in a photo book at Lulu.com — until August 31, 2010, you can save 20% off your photo book purchase (save up to $50), by entering the code SUMMERFUN at checkout.
Note too, that the more you buy the more you save. When you buy 5+, 25+ or 100+ copies of your book, the price drops per copy. This would be a good way to make a Homeschool Coop Yearbook.
One reader will get a 20 page hardcover 8.5″ x 8.5″ Photo Book from Lulu.com.
