A couple of weeks ago I posted that DreamWorks Pictures was releasing a movie called “Lincoln” in November which brings to the big screen the last few tumultuous months of the 16th President’s term in office.
We’ve adjusted our homeschool schedule so that we should be right around that section in American History when the movie is released. It releases in exclusive venues November 9th, and then expanding into more theaters November 16th, I just hope it is showing where we live at the time, so we can take advantage of making this a part of our education. (Besides who doesn’t like a field trip where popcorn is involved?!)
The screenplay was based in part on the book “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln”. Has anyone read it? Our local library system has two copies of it (both which are checked out at the moment) and I wanted to read it before we see the movie. It’s a big book though (916 pages!) and so I’m doubting I’d get through it before that anyway. Once I’ve seen the movie I’d probably not bother – or maybe the movie will move me to learn more…who knows?
Here’s the first official trailer of the movie that was released:
Tammy Litke, literally writes here, there and everywhere about this, that and everything, but her passion is and always has been keeping her family happy. She does so by making family friendly recipes, traveling to family destinations, watching 3D movies and playing video games with them and homeschooling her daughter.
