Iris Impressions – A Convertible, Reversible Skirt

My time spent in Indiana last week was really incredible with an abundance of tomatoes and scenic farm land.You think you’ve seen it all and then get surprised at some point.  And that’s what happened to me when the  Red Gold crew set up dinner at the Kelley Agricultural Historical Museum in Sharpsville, IN. It’s a 125-acre property that has been restored to its late 1920’s splendor. The land holds the old Kelley household, a one room schoolhouse, a log cabin from Carmel, the red round barn (a trademark of Indiana agriculture and where we ate our dinner in), and two other modern metal barns that hold antique farm equipment the family has collected over the years.  I’ll talk more about my trip in a later post, but this place was so incredibly charming even in spite of the rain that fell while we were there.When we received our itinerary for the trip we were told that evening’s attire would be “elegant picnic” or something along those lines.  I knew right away that the skirt I received from Iris Impressions for an honest review would be perfect for that kind of event.  The patterns and colors of the Iris Impressions Convertible Skirts and Dresses are simply beautiful.  I had a hard time choosing which pattern/style to review, but the color and length drew me to the Hawaiian Paradise Convertible Wrap Skirt.Once I saw it in person the print so happened to remind me of many of the printed batik fabric pieces I had purchased when I was in West Africa.So I wore my skirt as well…a skirt, but the great thing about Iris Impressions dresses and skirts is that they can be worn as a skirt, tank, tunic, a dress – for all different occasions!You can get the skirts in a few lengths (short, midi and maxi), and the dresses come in different styles as well.  With two layers and different patterns on the fabric, they are reversible and there are so many ways (over 100 actually!!) you can wear these skirts and dresses, you’ll find it one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe.  They send along a cheat sheet and a DVD with your order (and you can view tutorials on ways to wrap the skirts and dresses online), so you can practice with different styles.  Of course you can always just be creative and find some new ways to wrap it yourself too!  Whatever way you choose, you know you’re going to stand out in the crowd and be unique with an Iris Impressions skirt or dress.  Because of the multiple ways you can wear it, it’s ideal for traveling too.  I packed it away in my bag, it wasn’t wrinkled when I pulled it out and it took up no space at all.  Just think if you wear it reversed for two different occasions and then again styled as a top – you’ve packed 3 pieces in 1!I love how you can wear it for “elegant picnic” like I did – or you could style that reversible skirt as a tank with skinny jeans or you can go in a complete 180 and wear it with a sparkly top, heels and some flashy accessories for a night on the town.  When the weather gets cooler I can’t wait to pair the blue/teal side with a pair of high boots and a fitted turtleneck.
