Title: Prophet of the Pentacle (also availble for the Kindle)
Author: Marilyn D. Privratsky
Published: Outskirts Press, Inc., ©2009
Summary: Long ago, there was a battle between evil Lord Jarden, and a sphinx named Berecynthia. The sphinx won and imprisoned Lord Jarden, but during the encounter Berecynthia was wounded mortally, so was unable to destroy the evil fully.
Five ages have passed, and the King of Shandel’s royal advisor, Randye of Corpus, journeys on a mission to explore the secret and isolated island, Ice Isle. Unwittingly, Randye unleashes Lord Jarden from his prison, and becomes the new vessel for this evil to embody. And so begins the tale…
Review: This short book (only 45 pages), is an alluring story. I really liked Prophet of the Pentacle.
It is captivatingly written and draws the reader in.
Fantasy books tend to contain many of the same themes. This one does have the prerequisite elves and dragons, that are usually found in the genre, but it forges its own path. While you’re reading you don’t get that ‘deja vu’ feeling of having read it in another book.
It’s great that you can sit down, and if you have an hour or two, indulge in a whole story. Or maybe not, because at the end of the time, you might be wanting to get your hands on The Sacred Messenger, the next book in the Chronicles of Farro series.
If you’re a fantasy buff and haven’t read Prophet of the Pentacle, I suggest you try it. It’s a quick read and may get you started on a new series.
I’m giving my copy of Prophet of the Pentacle away to one reader.
