I love candles.  I love the way they look when they’re lit, the patterns they cast in the room when the night comes rolling in.  Even more so I love scented ones that fill the room with smells of baked goodness, fresh crispness or floral beauty.  But for all the enjoyment I get out of candles, there’s a risk to burning them, especially if you have small children or pets in your home.

Since we’ve had our home up for sale, I’ve started using wax melts in electric warmers to get the scent without having to have an open flame going when we’re not around – but even those come with risk (just look at my bedside end table that now has a wax stain on it….) and when we’re home, they just doesn’t provide the same ambience that a flickering candle does.

The other day Energizer sent me a 3×6 ivory pillar flameless wax candle to review, along with some batteries to power it up.  It looks just like an ordinary pillar candle in your décor (because the outside of it actually is wax), it’s safer because it’s actually powered by 4 AA batteries and has an LED light that acts as the flame.  It realistically flickers just like a real candle would when burning.  The one I received has a noticeable but not overwhelming vanilla scent to it too.

I set it up on the little table we have in our front entryway and we left it on when we went out because of a home showing.  I left not worrying about whether someone was going to knock one of the tart warmers out of a plug and get wax all over my floors.

The Energizer Flameless Wax Candle has some neat features to it.  Just moving one of two switches on the bottom of it will allow you to either turn the candle on or turn it on with a ‘timer’.  The other switch is for the timer and you can have the candle ‘burn’ for a 4, 6 or 8 hour stretch at which time it will turn itself off.  If you use the timer feature it has another added benefit – the candle will ‘remember’ when it was turned on the day before, and it will turn itself on at the same time and then run for the time you set it for.  How fantastic is that?

The Energizer Flameless Wax Candles are made with true flame LEDs that create a realistic flicker pattern that does not repeat for up to 72 hours.  I tried watching it for a while to see if I could pick out some sort of pattern and I couldn’t so it simulates the burning of a wick pretty well.

Powered up with Energizer Batteries these candles will keep going for 800 hours!
