DownEast Basics is an online clothing store featuring practical, cute and quality clothing at an affordable price. I was recently able to try out a piece of their apparel and was happy to do so.
The New Arrivals section at DownEast Basics has a variety of styles ranging from casual to dressy. Pastels, Brights and Prints, there is something for everyone. There was so much to choose from, when picking what I wanted to review, but I decided to go with the Fancy Tee in the Light Sea color, because I knew I’d get a lot of use out of it.
After checking out their sizing guide, I ordered a small. I’d say their sizes are true, I almost always wear a small, and this fit just right. If I had wanted it a bit snugger I could probably have gone with the X-Small, but I prefer my tops a bit more relaxed.
This tee is very comfy. I’ve worn it so much since receiving it. I like that I can dress it up with a cute pair of capris, or dress it down with a pair of jeans. The fabric is quite soft. I also like the collar, I was afraid before I received it, that it would “stick out” too much, but it lays really nice on the collar bone. It washes and dries beautifully too.
I also have to say that most of us buy shirts to fit our “width” dimensions. Being very petite in stature, many shirts that I purchase fit across the chest and stomach area, but are way too long on me. While the shirt does go past my waist, it is not a thigh hugger if I wear it untucked and that is great for short people. The color is nice, and at least compared to my computer monitor, pretty much right on to how it shows on their website.
The one thing you’ll notice in my picture, is that I’m wearing a camisole with it. It may need looking at twice because it’s a nude shade, but I had to wear something under this tee. Not because it’s thin, but because it is quite a low cut scoop. It doesn’t show any cleavage, but for a tiny frame the collar is cut quite wide, so you probably want to wear full coverage underneath, just in case it gapes a little when you’re bending over, or reaching up.
The Fancy Tee comes in 7 different colors and is priced at $16.99, which for a quality garment is priced fairly when compared to other quality brands.
