I received Disney Channel “Teen Beach Movie” products as a thank you for posting about the film.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

“Teen Beach Movie,” is an exuberant song, sand and surf fest set inside a retro beach party movie.  The storyline depicts how 1960s sensibilities motivate a modern girl to affirm her capability, strengths and goals.

The television premiere of “Teen Beach Movie,” a Disney Channel Original Movie, is FRIDAY, JULY 19 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel U.S. followed by telecasts on Disney Channels around the world.  It will be available Monday, July 15 to verified users on the WATCH Disney Channel app and WATCHDisneyChannel.com.

Made for kids age 6-14 and their families, the summer splash introduces confident, resilient surfer McKenzie and her carefree boyfriend Brady, a fan of the retro surf musical movie, “Wet Side Story.”  On the morning of McKenzie’s planned departure for boarding school, she and Brady catch one last epic wave which mysteriously carries them right into “Wet Side Story,” circa 1962, where they meet Seacat, giggles, Rascal and Cheechee, among others.

Amidst the spontaneous song and dance, there’s trouble in paradise — it’s bikers versus surfers for control of hte local hangout but Mack and Brady unwittingly interfere with the movie’s star-crossed plot, one that would pair a surfer (the teen matinee idol Tanner) and a biker (Lela, the sister of Butchy, the biker gang’s leader).

Typical of the teen beach movie genre, a kooky subplot has mad scientists Les Camembert and Dr. Fusion scheming to alter weather patterns and take over th elocal hangout and then, the world.

The cast includes:  Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally), Maia Mitchell (The Fosters), Grace Phipps (The Nine Lives of Chloe King) and Garrett Clayton (guest star on Shake It Up)
At DisneyChannel.com/TeenBeachMovie, kids and families can download a “Teen Beach Movie” party kit including recipes to create their own movie night experience.

I’m so excited for this because I grew up watching movies like “Gidget”, “Beach Blanket Bingo” and “Grease” and this will bring back all those memories (as well as my Mama’s Beehive Hairdo apparently!).

We wanted to have some fun with some of the items Disney Channel sent us and so even though we can’t watch the movie yet (we have to wait along with the rest of you!), we still planned a Beach Movie Night Experience with Lilo & Stitch.

The kids made and decorated a Surf Board Cake ‘stuck’ in some sand.

We drank some Rockin’ Raspberry Smoothies.

And for an activity we made some Origami Flowers.

There will be an encore telecast of “Teen Beach Movie” on SATURDAY, JULY 20 (11:00 a.m., ET/PT).  Fans can use their Disney Channel Photo Finish app for iDevices to “Watch and Unlock” or sync to any of the encore broadcasts and receive free “Bikers vs Surfers” and “Sing & Dance” sticker packs.  The app is available now for free in the App Store at http://AppStore.com/DisneyChannelPhotoFinish.

Loved the songs?  Want to sing along?  Then make sure you tune in again on SUNDAY, JULY 21 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) because the Sing Along edition of “Teen Beach Movie” will be presented on Disney Channel.  Lyrics to the movie’s nine songs will be visible on screen and available at DisneyChannel.com/TeenBeachMovie.  A Dance Along telecast, hosted by the cast of “Teen Beach Movie,” will also air on SATURDAY, JULY 27 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) along with dance tutorials available on DisneyChannel.com.
