BuddyPhones, a brand that has been making waves in the world of children’s headphones, has captured the hearts of parents and kids alike. We as parents are concerned about our children’s safety, comfort, and entertainment. I was intrigued by BuddyPhones’ promises, and after using them for a while, I’m happy to share my thoughts. We were able to try out the Cosmos+ wireless BuddyPhones to formulate our opinions.
Design and Build Quality (5/5): BuddyPhones are not just headphones; they are a fashion statement for kids. With an array of colorful and playful designs to choose from, children will be excited to pick their favorite. The headphones are robust and feel like they can withstand the inevitable rough handling from kids. The adjustable headband ensured a comfortable fit, and the foldable design makes them easy to store and carry.
Plus some of the options come with customizable stickers for added personalization. While the Cosmos+ doesn’t have that option, they do have a lot of fun characters and themes to choose from to delight pretty much any child.
Sound Quality (4/5): For a product designed primarily for kids, the sound quality was surprisingly impressive. The sound is clear, with well-balanced bass and treble, ensuring a safe listening experience for young ears. The volume-limiting feature provides peace of mind, as it prevents the audio from reaching harmful levels. While they may not compete with high-end adult headphones, the quality is more than adequate for children. I have been using them while going on my daily walks paired to my phone and the noise cancellation feature for the price point is really good.
Comfort (5/5): The plush ear cushions and padded headband of BuddyPhones ensure a comfortable fit, even during extended use. I’ve been wearing them as an adult who is petite (I’d say I’m about the size of an average twelve year old) and I have not had any discomfort, which is a significant plus for long road trips or plane rides. The adjustable headband allows for a snug fit on different head sizes, making them suitable for various age groups.
Durability (5/5): As any parent knows, children can be tough on their belongings. BuddyPhones are built to withstand this test, thanks to their sturdy construction and high-quality materials. We seriously put these headphones through some testing and they endured countless drops, spills, and tugs without any noticeable damage. This durability will give parents peace of mind, knowing that you don’t have to replace them frequently.
Volume-Limiting (5/5): One of the standout features of BuddyPhones is their volume-limiting technology, which ensures that the sound does not exceed safe levels for kids’ ears. As a parent, this is of paramount importance, and BuddyPhones deliver on this front without compromising the listening experience. As an adult having used them for a few weeks now, I never felt gimped by the volume limiting and the maximum volume was more than loud enough for my listening needs.
Additional Features (5/5): BuddyPhones offer a shareable audio feature, allowing multiple children to connect their headphones to one device and enjoy the same content simultaneously. It’s a fantastic feature for family road trips or when siblings want to watch a movie together. The cable is detachable and tangle-free, making it convenient for storage and transport. The Cosmos+ offers a detachable boom microphone (which fits into the same usb slot as the charging cable) that is bendable. There is also an Active Noise Cancellation feature as I mentioned above and a Voice Enhancing StudyMode, which is great for distance learning or tutoring as when switched on it makes voices through the headphones stand out apart from other ambient sounds.
Price (4/5): While BuddyPhones are not the cheapest option on the market, they provide excellent value for the quality, safety features, and durability they offer. It’s a small price to pay for peace of mind and a happy child. BuddyPhones start at $19.99 and go up to $119.99 for the Cosmos+ the headphones we reviewed.
In conclusion, BuddyPhones have proven to be a fantastic addition to many families. They excel in design, comfort, durability, and safety features. The only slight drawback is that they may not satisfy the audiophile in your child, but for their intended purpose, they perform admirably. These headphones will make car rides, plane trips, and quiet time at home more enjoyable for parents and kids alike, and I highly recommend them to any parent seeking a safe, reliable, and fun audio experience for their kids.
