I have a smile on my face every time I walk into my dining room and this is why.

Oh but there’s more! Out of sight (just because I don’t have room on the coffee bar) is this

and this …. and this….

Yes, it’s quite the collection of coffee makers!

It started with just one because I gave my husband the smart idea that I could save us so much money by not going to Starbucks, Caribou Coffee or Scooters every other day, and could easily make coffee house beverages at home for a fraction of the cost! So one winter the collection started, and I ran with it.

Using Coffee Mate you’ll be able to whip up a coffee house drink in your own home in no time and it will save you money as well!

If you want to be inspired, head to Walmart for Coffee Mate, seriously, the selection is incredible.

Check out all the kinds I found in my Google + Photo Story and an extremely unique Gingerbread Creation our Walmart had on display!

If you’re watching your weight this new year Coffee Mate creamer is available in sugar free and fat free varieties too, so you don’t have to give up coffee house indulgences all together if you make them at home. Plus you can save some money along with those calories 😉 by using the following coupon http://see.walmart.com/nestle/savingscenter.aspx that’s $1.00 off…that means you can pick up a small bottle for as little as 98¢! Now that’s a deal!

Making a coffee house beverage can be as easy as brewing a cup of coffee, adding some flavored syrup and then a tablespoon or two of Coffee Mate creamer in your choice of flavor. A favorite quick fix that I make is 6 oz of coffee, 1 oz of Irish Crème Syrup and 2 Tbsp. of French Vanilla Coffee Mate creamer for an Irish Crème Coffee. A tasty way to start the day, or use decaf as a great way to end the day!

If you want to get a bit fancier try this!

French Vanilla Mochaccino

20 chocolate chips
6 oz of strong brewed coffee
2 Tbsp Coffee Mate French Vanilla Creamer
Whipped Cream & Cinnamon for garnish

Put the chocolate chips in the bottom of your mug. Add the freshly brewed coffee. Stir until the chips are melted, add the creamer. Top the mug with whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve immediately and enjoy.

I figure that on average depending on the coffee blend you use, the most that beverage would set you back at home would be about $1.00!

For a café style beverage the whole family can enjoy, think outside the coffee box.

Warm Spiced French Vanilla Cider

Combine equal parts of apple cider and Coffee Mate French Vanilla Creamer, microwave or heat on the stove until it’s the right temperature to drink without scalding (!). Before serving sprinkle with nutmeg.

If you like the spiciness of cider and the creaminess of cocoa, you’ll love this. It’s very indulgent using the regular vanilla creamer variety, so you may want to use the fat free if you’re concerned about calories. The scent and flavor is terrific.

I also discovered that adding Coffee Mate to your favorite icing recipe is a good way to shake up the flavor!

Very Best Peppermint Mocha Buttercream

adapted from Petite Treats by Christy Beaver & Morgan Greenseth

1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter at room temperature
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 cup Coffee Mate Peppermint Mocha

Cream the shortening and butter until combined. Add the powdered sugar and mix well. Add the vanilla and Coffee Mate. Beat well.

My teenager LOVED this icing on some Christmas cookies we made. I tinted some of it pink, iced a thin layer on the bottom side of some chocolate chip oatmeal cookies that we made with red and green chocolate chips, and then put them in the fridge to “set up”. The icing formed a shell layer, and we served them with the icing side up. The Peppermint Mocha flavoring gave them just a bit of an unexpected seasonal kick.

What I love about this idea is you can add any kind of flavor you want to the icing to make it pair perfectly for whatever dessert you are putting it on!
