Werther’s Original® “Baking Bash” ~ Caramel Recipes

I received free Werther’s Original® products in order to host a Baking Bash. All opinions expressed here are my own.

I’m still coming to terms with the fact that October is almost over – seriously how did November creep up on us so fast?!  I am glad for the cooler weather though, the HOT Texas summer was a bit more intensive than I had anticipated 🙂  And with the cooler weather that means that holiday baking is already commencing in my kitchen, and I had the opportunity to make a few things (and share them!) with Werther’s Original Baking Caramels.

These rich and creamy Caramels are great for baking and making delicious caramel apples.  We had a lot of fun in our kitchen making these Swamp Apples for Halloween.

Made with real butter and fresh cream, Werther’s Original® Caramels are perfect for melting and incorporating into your favorite recipes.  A taste this delectable called for a celebration, so we shared our “Baking Bash.”

We couldn’t host everyone at once, so we made a few recipes and shared them on different days with different people, in different places (So suitable for our blog name Three Different Directions <– ha ha).

Besides our Swamp Apples we also made a couple of kinds of hot chocolate with it.  I’m crazy about caramel flavor in hot beverages and this was so good.

A little one, enjoying some hot chocolate.

Caramel Hot Chocolate
makes 1 16oz beverage

1 pint whole milk
1/8 cup sugar
3 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips (with 1/2 tablespoon reserved for garnish)
5 pieces Werther’s® Original Baking Caramels, unwrapped
Cool Whip

Heat milk and sugar in a medium pot over medium-high heat until boiling.  Reduce heat to low and add chocolate chips and caramels.  Stir until the chocolate and caramels are competely melted.  Pour into a mug and top with Cool Whip and reserved chocolate chips.

Oh those ooey, gooey melted caramels are finger licking good 🙂

How about adding caramels to your brownies?  Here is an easy way to make Turtle Brownies.

Easy Turtle Brownies
makes one 9×13 pan

1 box of milk chocolate brownie mix (to make in a 9×13 pan)
1 pkg (9 oz) of Werther’s Original® Baking Caramels, unwrapped
1 tbsp milk
halved pecans

Prepare brownie mix according to the instructions on the box.  Let cool 10 minutes.  During the last 2 minutes of cooling, combine the caramels and milk in a microwave safe bowl and heat for 1 1/2 minutes.  Stir, and then pour the liquid caramel on top of the brownies, gently press as many pecan halves as you desire into the caramel.  Let cool completely and serve.  If you have some left, cover to retain moistness.

Are you caramel crazy?  What kind of delicious treats to you like eating or making with caramels?

My favorite treat to make with caramel is caramel apples topped with crushed walnuts and drizzled with chocolate.
