In the spring of 2001 I made a decision to lose the extra pounds I had gained over the years. I did a lot of research on diets and plans, and finally settled on Weight Watchers, because I knew it was something I could do for the long haul and stick it out.
In 6 months I lost 30 lbs, felt terrific, but most importantly, I learned how to eat. I know that Weight Watchers redesigns their program every few years as new research comes out, but the concept stays the same. You get ‘Points’ to spend on food each day, and you can use them how you wish. That’s the beauty of it. You don’t have to give up anything. No food is off limits. Because in real life when you’ve lost the weight, you don’t want to continue on a “diet”, you want to eat what you want, and if that includes a Peanut Butter Cup Brownie Sundae, well so be it.
Speaking of Peanut Butter Cup Brownie Sundaes….Weight Watchers line of Smart Ones meals has a few new products. A few new desserts are in your grocer’s freezer. We tried out the Peanut Butter Cup Brownie Sundae and the Chocolate Fudge Brownie Sundae (there is also a Turtle Sundae, but we couldn’t find those in our local stores).
At around 140 calories and 3 grams of fat (each variety differs slightly on the calories and fat grams) – these tasty treats are just 3 Weight Watchers Points. You won’t feel at all like you are sacrificing taste for calories and they are the perfect size for dessert or an evening snack while you watch TV. Each box comes with two desserts so you can have one today and one tomorrow, or you can share one with a loved one .
Smart Ones also has some new choices in their breakfast meals. These Morning Express varieties include French Toast with Turkey Sausage, Egg Sausage and Cheese Wrap and Ham and Cheese Scramble.
High in protein and packed with whole grains, your day will start off right. We tried the Ham and Cheese Scramble which my husband thought was really good. He used to eat another brand with a similar breakfast and when he saw the difference in calories and fat he couldn’t believe that the Smart Ones was so much lower. He said the taste difference was negligible and he would continue to eat the Smart Ones knowing it was much healthier for him.
I tried the Egg Sausage and Cheese Wrap. I appreciate that there are actually two meals within the box, each consisting of 2 wraps. I enjoyed them, and found it to be a quick easy breakfast on busy mornings.
The new Weight Watcher Smart Ones and all their other current meals are available at Target, Walmart and grocery store chains nationwide. The above mentioned products were priced between $1.97 and $2.47 at my local store.
