When Amber was in public school and Hubby worked weekdays, mornings were so crazy we rarely had time for a hot breakfast. Now that we homeschool, and Hubby is home 5 mornings a week, I’m able to make more than just instant oatmeal and toaster pastries if I want. My family loves French Toast. I don’t make it a lot though because I think it tastes better when I order it in a restaurant! I tried a recipe last week for Apple Cinnamon French Toast from the Tree Top website, and if I do say so myself, it tasted pretty good. The fact that there was none left on the breakfast plates when we were done, makes me think my family thought so too!
To make it you need: 3 eggs, 1/2 cup of Tree Top Apple Sauce, 3/4 tsp Cinnamon, 1 Tbsp Butter and 6 Slices of whatever bread you like.
Mix the eggs, cinnamon and applesauce in a shallow bowl with a fork or a whisk. It will look something like this:
Melt the butter in a skillet, dip each slice of bread on both sides in the egg mixture, place in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side.
It’s an easy recipe, and the apple sauce gives it just a bit of a different taste from regular french toast, but doesn’t change the texture of it at all.
