I want to share with you all parts of our 4th of July Celebration that we had with good friends of ours. They always provide an awesome spread as well as great entertainment and fun for us year after year – so this year I wanted to make something special, and so I brought along a ‘4th of July TCBY Frozen Yogurt Pie’ for everyone to enjoy.

I went to Walmart to purchase my supplies, you can take a look at my entire path to purchase in my Google+ #CBias story by clicking the photo below…

With so many great flavors in both pints and quart size containers I couldn’t decide if I wanted my Frozen Yogurt Pie to be Strawberry Swirl or Vanilla Bean….so I bought a pint of one and a quart and a half of the other.

Okay, I KNEW the pie was going to be made from #TCBYGrocery Vanilla Bean Frozen Yogurt…but I wanted an excuse to just eat the Strawberry Swirl! There are also a number of varieties of TCBY Frozen Yogurt Novelties available at Walmart, but I figured even though they’re all low in calories, my waistline would thank me for not buying more.

In any case… I was going through some old issues of my All You magazines and found a recipe for Croissant Ice Cream Sundaes, and that got my brain thinking. Why not make a pie crust from crescent roll dough, then fill the crust with TCBY Frozen Yogurt, and top it off with red and blue garnishes to make it all patriotic? And I just happened to have strawberries in my fridge and blueberries in my freezer! So, that’s what I did.

TCBY Frozen Yogurt Pie for a 4th of July Celebration

Ingredients

1 can of crescent roll dough (preferably the “big” crescent rolls)
12 scoops of TCBY Vanilla Bean Frozen Yogurt
red and blue garnishes (icings, sprinkles, fruit…)

Directions

• Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

• ’Pop’ the dough canister and separate the pieces. It’s easier if you leave them in the 4 rectangles, but if they get separated into the triangles that’s okay. Press them into the bottom and up the edges of the pie plate, using all of the dough. You may have to overlap pieces. Press it the dough firmly all over the pie plate so that it’s somewhat even in thickness.

• Bake for 15 minutes. While the dough is still warm, with a spatula press the center of the dough down towards the pie plate as it will have ‘puffed’ up while baking. Allow to cool completely.

• Take your TCBY Frozen Yogurt out of the freezer to soften up a bit. Scooping out six portions (with a standard sized ice cream scoop), place in the middle of the pie, and then using a spatula spread it, filling the pie crust in from edge to edge. Then repeat with six more scoops.

• While the frozen yogurt is still soft, add your garnishes. This is a great time to let kids help direct with fruit, sprinkles or icing. We used a decorator gel to make our star in the middle and then we decorated with strawberries and blueberries for the ‘patriotic’ look.

• Return to the freezer and let it set for a minimum of 4 hours, but overnight would be best.

• Cut and enjoy! Serves 4 to 8 depending on how big the slices are LOL! This is an easy and tasty dessert to bring to Family Celebrations.

Can’t get enough of TCBY Frozen Yogurt? Then join in on the #TCBYGrocery Twitter Party on Thursday July 26, 2012 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM EST for a fun chat about TCBY and (of course) prizes!

To leave you off with a BANG! Here are a couple of great pictures that I took of the fireworks.
