Whether you have an iTouch, iPhone or iPad, Talking Anya Dress Up & Pet Puppies is a free download app that will be enjoyed by most little girls.  While I’m sure the ages of children that would like this app vary, I would think it would most appeal to the ages of 3 to 7 year olds.

Anya is like an interactive paper doll.  The child can dress her up, change her hairstyle/color, eye color and add accessories. The free version includes only a couple of options for personalizing Anya which are two dresses and two hairstyles and one pair of sunglasses.  There are numerous hair colors one can choose for her though.

Anya is full of surprises.  Touch her hair and she will react.  Tap her nose and she will sneeze.  Touch her tummy and she’ll giggle and touch her feet and she’ll dance for you.

But Anya just wants to play and she’ll get sad if she isn’t played with, or she’ll get moody (just like some real little girls!) and if she’s offered a treat, she might just give a smile.  Your child can even get her to show some love!

One of the games your child can play with Anya is Pop the Bubbles.  She’ll blow them and the child can try popping them all by tapping them on the screen.

They can play music with Anya by helping her play the maracas, and bring up the lights and Anya will dance the Macarena (moms and dads who remember the wedding dances in the mid/late 90s will love that!) in style.

My favorite part of the free version of the app, was being able to virtually put Anya anywhere you want with your camera and take a photo of her or even with her!  See here she is in my back hall coming in to play with me

One can even record a voice message and hear Anya repeat it, and share it on Facebook.

Another neat feature of this app is that your child can take Anya on a play date.  If a friend also has the Talking Anya app installed if the devices are close to each other they can connect and play games together.  The Toss the Ball game and dance feature are included in the free version.

Talking Anya Dress Up & Pet Puppies has some great parental controls.  In order to get to the extra paid content and sharing, a math question is prompted before one can access it.

Parents can control the sharing of photos and videos through the app on Facebook/Twitter and Email.

To get the most out of Talking Anya I think that in app purchases are the way to go.  You can get just a couple of them if you want (the puppy unlock is $1.99 which considering the  app name includes the “pet puppies” your child will probably want those.  They can teach them tricks and name them).  To unlock all the content is $6.99 which also gets you all future content free of charge.  That will add a tremendous amount of extra content including special dress up costumes for holidays, a couple of more games to play and of course the puppies.  If you find your child is playing with the free limited version a lot, that seems like a pretty good deal to me.

While the free version is sparse in what it offers, it’s worth downloading to see if the app is of interest to your child.  The one thing that is nice about even the free version is there are no ads shown in it.
