So many schools have a dress code these days, and shoes aren’t an exception to the rules. For safety reasons flip flops are often on the ‘do not wear’ list, and for good reason. While comfortable and easy for young kids to get on and off by themselves, they aren’t the best for running and those little toes are exposed to the elements. Let me share an alternative footwear choice; Sanuk.
I found Sanuk on the internet, and liked the concept of them right off the bat. Sanuk’s Sidewalk Surfers are essentially a shoe that covers a sandal (they also sell traditional sandals as well). They come in a variety of sizes and styles for the whole family.
I got a pair of their Sidewalk Surfers Vagabonds in the Good Game style (which is a zebra print) for Amber. These are sized generously, I got her a kids size 6 and it was large on her (she can wear a ladies 5 or 6 depending on the make). So I’ve been wearing them, and they are actually even a little big on me! Since receiving them, I’ve practically worn them 24/7. Not only are they comfy, they’re stylish as well.
No need to “break” these shoes in. They fit like an “old” pair right out of the package. The Sanuk Kids Sidewalk Surfers have a super soft, high rebound and molded EVA footbed featuring AEGIS Antimicrobial. Since they totally enclose the foot, they’re ideal for school wear, yet are still easy to slip on and off for the youngest ones, and they can run around in them safely. They even have a pair that has a ‘secret pocket‘ to hold some cash in! At $40 a pair, they’re comparably priced to a good pair of sneakers.
