Scrabble, this classic game has been entertaining families from grandparents to the kids. Over the years many versions of the original board game have been made, including both card games and video games. Now Hasbro has put another twist on Scrabble with Scrabble Flash.
Scrabble Flash brings the fun of words to your fingers as players try to rearrange five electronic tiles with a letter each to form words of three to five letters. The tiles recognize words and keep score.
See who can shuffle, slide and swap these tiles fastest, because you only have just over a minute when it is your turn! It’s a new game and a new experience each time you play.
Scrabble Flash earned a Toy Industry Association Award of 2010 Game of the Year. And no doubt it was, the proof is that five high school girls spent an afternoon competing with each other and didn’t want to stop playing. The beauty of it is, that the whole family can play together because this version of Scrabble isn’t based on strategy, so your 8 year old, teenager, parents and grandparents can all play this.
It took us a bit to get the hang of starting up a new game, but once we new what we were doing, there was only fun to be had. It’s a bit more difficult to play with multiple people at once, as you don’t get a lot of time to think about word creation before you need to send the tiles on to the next person. Playing the game in single mode makes for a slower paced game, but they are equally as fun to play.
What I really like about this game is that it is small and sleek and extremely portable. It comes with a case to store the tiles, and is small enough to fit in a pocket, backpack or handbag. I look forward to taking it traveling with us.
When we can get five girls with different interests playing a game together, that they all enjoy and hear no complaints, you can guarantee I’m going to recommend it. Scrabble Flash gets a definite thumbs up.
