So the other day I went out for lunch and my lunch was really delicious.
Let’s talk about this lunch. It was lunch at Salata, and let me tell you when you lunch at Salata, they got options! Salata has everything you need to make any kind of salad you want. Fresh ingredients, several different salad mixes, meat/seafood add ons, and plenty of dressing choices. You get a huge bowl of greens or you can make your salad into a wrap.
One of the things Salata does best is put together flavor combinations. I (and many others I’m sure) wish I was be able to come up with simple, fresh, quick never-fail combination of flavors on the fly.
Salata’s newly-launched catering program features some new combinations. Green Goodness! Spicy Thai Crunch! and Keen Wah Kale!
I tried out the Green Goodness.
What do you have here? Spring Mix, chickpeas, broccoli, cilantro, bell pepper, pumpkin seeds, feta, pesto chicken, and fresh herb vinaigrette dressing. I made it into a wrap with a cool cucumber tortilla. Hello, lunch. The flavor profile also includes kale and alfalfa sprouts which aren’t favorites of mine, so I left them out. That’s the beauty of Salata though, you can add (or subtract!) whatever you want to your salad/wrap.
I had a fantastic lunch of this deliciously unexpected combination. It’s excellent. The Salata Fresh Herb Vinaigrette Dressing gives salads that fresh flavor of herbs and spices. I love this dressing! It has a very nice flavor that is not overly strong or overpowering. The pesto chicken was so good. It complements the other ingredients nicely! I will be ordering this again! BUT…I definitely want to go back and try out the Spicy Thai Crunch and the Keen Wah Kale (well without the kale 😉 maybe with the mix greens instead!).
Spicy Thai Crunch – Salata mix greens, cilantro, red onion, bell pepper, bean sprouts, pineapple, sesame sticks, chipotle chicken, ginger lime dressing. Make it a wrap with the Thai ginger tortilla.
Keen Wah Kale – Kale, radish, red onion, jicama, cucumber, pumpkin seeds, cranberry, quinoa, balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Make it a wrap with a whole wheat tortilla.
Though these creations were made for the catering menu, the combinations are easily created from Salata’s line in their restaurants. Salata catering is perfect for a girls-night-in, office party or mom’s lunch.
Salata also has some great teas and several lemonades to choose from. I went with the Peach Lemonade, you should try it – delicious!
Oh did I forget to say that I had a lunch date? That’s right ,I had The Nerd’s Wife‘s son along with me. Sometimes it can be hard to eat healthy and quick when you’re out, especially when it comes to kids’ meals. It is possible at Salata though.
Salata’s Kids Meal is available in a bento box-style. Young guests can choose any five fruits or vegetables – perfectly placed in small compartments – along with a protein and dressing or peanut butter. The meals are available for $6, and include a piece of bread and a juice box.
This little guy devoured his lunch, so I guess that makes it a thumbs up from the kids crowd.
