If you are in Austin for an extended stay, the Residence Inn Austin-University area hotel is a perfect place to call home while you are away.Located near I-35, not far from the airport or downtown, it’s ideal for both vacation and business stays. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, including a Smashburger, Starbucks and HEB.
The room we had was set up like a modern bachelor suite, with one king sized bed and also a sectional that flips out to a sleeper sofa, so enough room for a small family. The suite has a kitchen with a full size fridge, small stove top/oven, microwave and dishwasher. The cupboards are all stocked up with the dishes you’ll need. There’s a small work area for business travelers to set up their laptop and a decent sized TV that is able to be swiveled for viewing from both the sofa or the bed.A large shower, vanity and closet complete the suite. The room was clean and comfortable.
While there was plenty of room for myself and my traveling buddy Dawn Monroe from The Frugal Mom to sleep in that king sized bed, I decided to test out the sleeper sofa to see how comfy it was. I had a good night’s sleep so the mattress on that pull out bed isn’t too bad y’all! One of the neat things that the Residence Inn Austin-University offers is free weekday evening social hours. The night we arrived the featured item was a S’mores Dessert Bar. Not only was this a delightful sweet snack after having traveled all afternoon, the complimentary wine (and beer) offered during the social hour was a nice addition as well.Likewise the free breakfast offered in the morning was well stocked with coffee, juice, and a variety of both sit down and grab and go food options. An exercise room, free parking and free Wi-Fi during your stay rounds out the perks of this Residence Inn location in Austin.
If I’m needing a hotel in the Austin area in the future, I would stay here again. You can find more information about the Residence Inn Austin-University including amenities and prices on Marriott.com.
