I was so excited to be able to have a girls’ night out last week at Painting With A Twist in Denton, TX.
Painting with a Twist is a great place to unwind and and share some time with friends. It’s an artist led painting class combined with a BYOB event. Sip, Paint. Paint, Sip. It’s a fun night out and the Denton, TX location on the northwest corner of Denton Square is a new location for this hot franchise chain.
Boasting two levels with the upper room being able to host large crowds, the old historic building has just the right atmosphere to get you in the mood for painting.
A group of us bloggers were invited by the owner, to attend a free VIP evening. It allowed us to embrace our creative juices (and the fermented grape varietal kind as well!), and get a feel of what a fun activity Painting with a Twist can be.
What’s great about Painting with a Twist is that you don’t have to one bit of painting experience to walk out of your class with a piece of art. I’m the classic example of that since I have absolutly no artistic talent to speak of. A step by step tutorial takes the blank canvas you’re given and transforms it into something you’ll actually be proud to hang in your home.
All you need to bring is your own drinks & snacks and your enthusiasm ๐ Everything else is provided in your fee. Your canvas, brushes, paints, aprons…Painting with a Twist even supplies an ice bucket, ice, cups, plates, plus bottle openers and corkscrews for your ‘inspirations’ (or was that libations? Either way…) All of that costing just $35 for a 2 hour class.
The art instructors are fun and make it a genuinely enjoyable atmosphere. They’re encouraging and should your paint brush go astray or you get a bit ‘too’ creative, they’ll give you some tips on how to get your painting back on track.
Our painting for the evening was “Moonlit Cherry Blossoms.” While everyone else is painting glorious moons, a dusky sky and tree branches, mine looks more like a giant jawbreaker with snakes encroaching…
but Scott our instructor just kept telling us that it would all look right by the end of the evening, and by jove he was right!
The Denton location is an ideal place to celebrate a birthday, bachelorette party, or team building. Or it makes a fun girls’ night out idea, sort of like what we did! The surrounding shops and services allow you to make a whole experience out of it. You could go to dinner at a local restaurant and then head over to Painting with a Twist, or you can go to one of them after for a night cap if you didn’t sip your share while you were painting! Because the Dart A-Train stop is just a 10-15 minute walk from their location, you don’t even have to drive, just hop the train at Trinity Mills Rail Station.

How cool!! Great job on your artwork. I'd love to do something like this with some girlfriends.
Thank you for writing about us! Glad you like your painting.
To add to your train idea, you could ride from anywhere in the DFW metroplex because the TRE train connects to DART train and DART connects to the A-Train!
I saw this kind of class on tv, and I've been wanting to go ever since. It looks so fun, and your painting came out beautifully!!!
Wow, your painting looks fabulous! Not sure mine would have turned out very well, but I wish we had a place like this so I could try.
I've always wanted to do one of these workshops before! My daughter has done Kids and Canvas and loves it!

What a fun way to spend the day painting. I wish they had one near me!
I just signed up for this locally! Apparently it's all the rage ๐ Your painting came out great, not a jawbreaker resemblance at all ๐
Your painting is beautiful. Sounds like lots of fun.
I've never been to one of these classes but I am not much of a painter. If it was a drawing class, then maybe. My 15 yod would love this!
Looks like a fun day filled with painting. My daughter paints and she'd love something like this.
We did this about a year ago. It was a blast! I love your painting!!
What a fun idea for a night out. I'm not a drinker, but I would love the painting part. I wonder how many people put paintbrushes in their drinks each night.
Painting with a Twist sounds like fun. I'd love to do that with a couple of girlfriends.
We have a similar painting studio out here in Las Vegas and my sister and I went for a night out earlier this year. We had a great time! I just love that the picture is a keepsake of the fun evening spent together.
