P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Giveaway

I have mentioned before that I live in what I affectionately refer to ‘Nowheresville’.  I live in the biggest city in the state, and it only boasts a population of about 150,000 (and that count might include some buffalo).  Because of that, many of the hip, cool restaurants and stores don’t have a presence here.   Places like P.F. Chang’s Chinese Bistro.

I’ve heard about P.F. Chang’s, I’ve dreamed of eating at P.F. Chang’s, I think I’ve drooled on my pillow while dreaming of eating at P.F. Chang’s.  Sigh, but I’ve never actually eaten at a P.F. Chang’s.

There are some people though, who realize that living in Nowheresville doesn’t mean you don’t have a desire to eat good food.  The chefs at P.F. Chang’s China Bistro along with Unilever have created P.F. Chang’s Home Menu.  Now I can conquer my craving for Asian cuisine right in my own kitchen.

P.F. Chang’s Home Menu is available in the freezer section of grocery stores nationwide.  I picked it up at a Walmart Supercenter, and it was $7.49 for the bag.

Since we were feeding three, I actually picked up 2 bags of the Beef and Broccoli variety to make. Although, I’m sure I could have stretched one bag (each bag is two servings), for the three of us, I wanted to be on the safe side.   Seriously, I could easily have made just one bag, as I also made some rice to eat with it.  The amount of food in the bag is a lot.  And there is no skimping on the meat.  No asking “where’s the beef” in these entrees.

This was entirely too easy to make.  I literally just opened the bag and plopped it into my non-stick electric skillet.  And then walked away for about 5 minutes.  Came back, lifted the lid, stirred it a bit, replaced lid, and walked away for another 5 minutes.  Yeah, tough I know.

What I found most impressive is that the Beef and Broccoli, is just that, Beef and Broccoli.  No added peppers, onions, celery, etc.  In my home, that’s like gold.  Since I have a picky grown up and a picky teenager, usually with meals like this, half the contents are pushed to the side of the plate.  Since there were no added fillers, all the food on the plate was eaten.

P.F. Chang’s and Unilever put a big smile on my face this past weekend, there’s nothing I like more than feeling like I’m eating like the big kids, and I didn’t even have to travel to do it!
