Quite surprising to most people that know my family – we have never owned “real” cell phones. By that I mean ones that we actually ‘use’.
About 10 years ago we bought a Tracfone for me to have for emergency purposes. That’s all we ever used it for. So it sat at the bottom of my purse most of the time, and was brought out on occasion if the school called me to get Amber when she wasn’t feeling well.
Then that phone started getting bulky and heavy, and I ‘traded up’ to a flip phone. Which at this point is actually archaic. No web access, and texting means knowing your numbers and alphabet! Suffice it to say, it still only got used as an emergency phone, but at least it fit in my pocket, unlike my original cell phone.
I have an iTouch and an iPad but those only have Wi-Fi which isn’t always accesible. With blogging and traveling this past year, I’ve realized the limitations I had by not having a phone that allowed me to be ‘connected’.
T-Mobile is solving that problem for me for a few months as I review a Nokia Lumia 710 Windows Phone. It’s a nice looking device (white front/black back – kind of reminds me of my light/dark side personas on Star Wars: The Old Republic )
So I’ve only had it for a couple of days, but I’m already loving how I can connect to the web on the go, where ever I happen to be – Wi-Fi access or not.
What’s interesting to me is that the Nokia Lumia 710 is exclusive to T-Mobile – BUT you don’t have to have a contract plan to get one (hooray!) – I’m kind of a pay as you go girl, having had my Tracfone for so many years I’m used to that, and like it. So people like me can have a smart phone too, with varying talk/text/data plans – and pay on a month to month basis.
So look for some more posts and reviews here on my blog for where I take the T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 710 Windows Phone and what I can do with it! And then sometime during the few months that I review it…I’m going to have the chance to give one away to one of my readers too! <— Yippee!!
Disclosure: I received no monetary compensation for this post; Nokia sent me the phone for review and provided service. Opinions are my own.
