I pride myself in being a pretty good housekeeper, but the rest of my family lacks the passion that I do in that department.    Every mom has something that they fool their kids with to get them to do chores though…right?!  I know I do.

Confession time:
When our daughter was little, I told her the vacuum cleaner was a Transformer.  But it would never become its robot self unless she vacuumed every bit of carpet until it was 100% clean.  Oh that girl vacuumed her heinie off, and you know that vacuum never did transform…

You know even though that was kind of rotten, I feel pretty good about myself after I watch this:

Is primetime ready for two more unconventional moms?

Well you can find out when “Mom” premieres on CBS Monday September 23rd at 9:30 ET/8:30 CT.

MOM is a comedy from executive producer Chuck Lorre (you know the guy behind Big Bang Theory), starring Anna Faris as a newly sober single mom raising two children in a world full of temptations and pitfalls, and multiple Emmy Award winner Allison Janney as her critical, estranged mother.

Christy is a waitress at a posh Napa Valley establishment who is four months clean and doing her best to be a good mom and overcome a history of questionable choices. Her sobriety is tested when her recovering alcoholic mom Bonnie reappears, chock-full of passive-aggressive insights into Christy’s many mistakes.

Bonnie joins Christy’s already complicated circle of relationships: her handsome, married boss – and lover – Gabriel; the restaurant’s hot-tempered chef, Rudy; her pretty, 16-going-on-25-year old daughter, Violet; her sweet but overly honest son, Roscoe; her irresponsible ex and Roscoe’s father, Baxter; and Violet’s clueless boyfriend, Luke. Christy tries to remain positive as she pursues her new path in life, but she faces an uphill battle, surrounded by a dubious support system – and a copious amount of dysfunction.

Are you planning on catching the premier of Mom?  We love Big Bang Theory around here, so I think I’m going to check it out.

  1. This looks like it's going to be a good show! I can't wait to see!

(It would have been REALLY cool if you'd left a toy Transformer behind one night beside the vacuum!)

  2. Oh you sneaky, sneaky trickster! I saw some clips of the show and I love Allison Janney, who is normally really funny, so I'm hoping for the best. Admittedly, I'm a hard sell when it comes to sitcoms.

  3. I just saw this new show advertised for the first time yesterday and thought it looked funny. We are on the hunt for new fall shows to add to our lineup, so I'd like to give this one a try.
