Michael W. Smith ‘Sovereign’ CD

Michael W. Smith‘s music was the soundtrack to my teen years.  From replaying ‘Providence’ in a loop when going through tough times to the echoes of “Pray for Me” at my high school graduation.  His “Christmas” album is one of the first I listen to when breaking out the seasonal music.  If you look at the playlists on my phone and iPad, you’ll probably find at least one of his songs in every one of them.   

Life got busy, digital music started becoming the norm and Michael W. Smith kind of fell of my radar in terms of music as I got older.  Then I got “Healing Rain” as a gift from my Mom for my birthday the year it was released, and my music obsession with Mr. Smith was rekindled, and I’ve been keeping a closer ear to his songs again.

So I was pleased when asked to share this video of SKY SPILLS OVER from one his latest albums “Sovereign.”

“I’m really passionate about the song SKY SPILLS OVER.  It was fun creating it in the studio and I’ve been overwhelmed at the response it gets when we perform it live every night.  My son Ryan is a really talented filmmaker so I always enjoy working with him on a project.  But what made this project even more special was that 3 of my own grandkids were in the video.  This video was a lot of fun to make.  I hope people enjoy it!”

Wait, what?  GRANDKIDS?  For some reason in the nearly 30 years I’ve been listening to Michael W. Smith I just assumed he was stopped in time 😉
