The holidays are sneaking up on us before we know it, it’s going to be Thanksgiving! During the holidays we can often get caught up in the hustle and forget about the true light of Christmas. Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas is a brand new show from VeggieTales that provides the perfect opportunity to remind friends and family what Christmas is all about!
This is THE best VeggieTales Christmas movie yet, in my opinion. In just 45 minutes, they manage to wrap up a cute little story and Silly Song with a resounding message of the true meaning of Christmas – GIVING!
Si Robertson of Duck Dynasty as narrator really made the message come through with a lot of clarity and humor. I found that they kept it simple this time, and there wasn’t a lot of distraction with a complex story and silly stuff.
Our attention was very quickly focused on little Christina, who wanted to help her friend, Mrs. Crespie, who lost her house in a fire, get a new house for Christmas. Merry Larry sets out to help Christina by creating the biggest light show EVER to draw attention to Mrs. Crespie’s situation. The little girl with the big heart changed everything when she showed them all what Christmas is really about…and that is “Christmas shines most bright and true when you give the love God gave to you!”
Of course the silly song “Wrapped Myself up for Christmas” was really cute, and my kids enjoyed the sing-a-long version included on the DVD. After watching the movie, we checked out all the Bonus Material, especially enjoyed the discussion guide, which brought us around to the subject of giving, and even suggesting building a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child – which is exactly what we had planned to do that same week!
Just when I thought my son was getting to the point of being a little old at seven and a half to enjoy many more Veggie Tales movies, they captured his curiosity and attention with the ever-popular Si Roberson, and he thought it was the “coolest” movie! My 5 year old daughter still loves all things Veggie Tales, and we all agree that this is the perfect family DVD to get everyone into the TRUE spirit of Christmas. Also the perfect movie to show at an Operation Christmas Child shoebox assembling party. Two thumbs up, five out of five stars once again, Bob and Larry!
I can't wait to buy this DVD! I KNOW my kids will love it!
My nieces and nephews would love this for Christmas. Thanks for sharing!
