July 21st is Applebee’s “Taste the Change” Day

I was invited as a guest of Applebee’s to a media sampling event to try the new menu items.  All opinions are my own.

On July 21 Applebee’s, the nation’s leading casual dining chain, will give away an estimated 2 million appetizers at nearly 2,000 restaurants across the country for their “Taste the Change” day*.  “Taste the Change” day is all about Applebee’s showcasing  their Better Food, Better Drinks, and Better Atmosphere.  Guests will also have the option of adding other new appetizers at low sampler prices.

Two popular new items will be featured at the July 21 free sampling event. The Sriracha Shrimp features quality shrimp, fried with a special coating, which provides a light, flaky crunch, then tossed in a Sriracha Chile Lime sauce.Sriracha Shrimp - Applebee's Free Sampling Event July 21, 2015 - #TasteTheChangeSriracha Shrimp - Applebee's Free Sampling Event, July 21, 2015 - Taste the ChangeNew Churro S’Mores are twisted cinnamon churro twists, served with a warm marshmallow and chocolate dip.Churro S'Mores - Free Appetizer Sampling at Applebee's July 21, 2015 #TasteTheChangeTo celebrate its 35th year, the nation’s leading casual dining chain is marking the occasion by showcasing its new and improved menu of craveable bar-and-grill classics. Applebee’s team of executive chefs has taken these classics to new culinary heights by updating them with premium ingredients and signature Applebee’s twists.

New appetizers and sandwiches won rave reviews during a “Taste The Change Fest” event in Times Square in May, where thousands of consumers enjoyed sneak previews of the new items.

And I have to agree!  The new food and drink menu items are fantastic.

One of the new, over-the-top items – is the stunning Triple Hog Dare Ya™ sandwich, which is stacked high with pulled pork, Black Forest ham and thick-sliced bacon, crispy onions and melted cheddar cheese on a Ciabatta bun.Triple Hog Dare YaOther new menu items include:

Brew Pub Philly sandwich: Premium, Monteal-seasoned steak instead of traditional shredded meat; peppers, onions and jalapenos that are fried instead of sautéed; beer cheese sauce instead of typical processed cheese; and a grilled Ciabatta roll instead of a hoagie bun.  Beer cheese sauce is served both on the sandwich and as a dipping sauce on the side.Brew Pub PhillyMaple Bacon Chicken Piadini: featuring cedar-seasoned chicken, thick sliced bacon, cheddar cheese and sweet-and-savory maple mustard in a unique Piadini wrap that is finished on the grill.Maple Bacon Chicken PiadiniTaste the Change - Maple Bacon Chicken PiadiniBourbon & Berries: Maker’s Mark bourbon, cranberry and lemon juice hand-shaken and garnished with a blackberry and lemon twist.Bourbon & BerriesBlackberry Sangria: Cabernet, Cointreau, and lemonade hand-shaken with blackberries and garnished with an orange and a lime.Blackberry SangriaBlackberry Quencher Lemonade: a refreshing blend of blackberry and lemonade loaded with blackberries.Lemonade Blackberry QuencherWithout a doubt, the Churro S’mores alone are worth going to Applebee’s for on July 21st.  And if we had to choose a favorite entrée, mine was the Maple Bacon Chicken Piadini.  My husband really enjoyed the Triple Hog Dare Ya™ sandwich.  Of course on a hot summer evening, you can’t turn down a glass of Blackberry Sangria either, that would just be rude!  I think Applebee’s new food and new look-and-feel will pleasantly surprise those of you who haven’t visited their restaurant in a while.
