If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you know I have a bit of an obsession with oral health care. It started after I got married and I actually got dental insurance. After a few very painful scalings, I knew that I had to take better care of my teeth. I’ve tried many different brands of toothpastes and flosses, and yet our family keeps going back to Crest, probably because they just keep making great products to keep my family’s teeth clean and healthy.
Crest Pro-Health Clinical Gum Protection Toothpaste is the newest member of the Crest Pro-Health family. It is an advanced formula that provides their highest level of protection against plaque bacteria that cause gingivitis and is clinically proven to help reverse gingivitis in just four weeks. It achieves that with its balanced stabilized stannous fluoride chemistry that provides an increase in antibacterial power.

Unlike ordinary toothpastes, it helps eliminate plaque at the gum line. Suggested price $3.75 for a 4 oz. tube.
What exactly is gingivitis?
Gingivitis is a very common and mild form of gum disease that cause gums to become red, swollen and tender and bleed during brushing or flossing. I know I’ve had it in the past (and have been reprimanded by my dentist too!). If it’s left untreated, gingivitis can lead to a more serious form of gum disease known as periodontitis, and infection in the ligaments and bones that support the teeth and a major cause of tooth loss in adults.1
So what can you do to protect yourself from gingivitis?
Brush at least twice a day. Using Crest Pro-Health Clinical Gum Protection toothpaste is sure to help. We’ve been using it for the past couple of weeks in our home, and it really gives you a clean from the dentist feeling after brushing.
Flossing daily is also important. New Oral-B Glide Pro-Health Clinical Protection Floss is great for those of us that have teeth very close together. This floss doesn’t shred, and is sturdy and as its name implies, glides easily between the teeth, so that you can remove the plaque where your brush can’t.
One more tool you can use to help keep your teeth and gums healthy is the Oral-B CrossAction Pro-Health Toothbrush.
The unique CrissCross bristles are angled in opposing directions to lift out and sweep away plaque. What I found interesting are the two rows of soft gum stimulators which are positioned on either side of the brush head, which massage gums while brushing. I generally use an electric toothbrush, but carry a manual one with me, in case I have need for one. I really like about this one is the gum stimulators, it makes your brushing much more thorough.
Actress Tiffani Thiessen, star of “White Collar”, kicks off National Gingivitis Awareness Month on September 15th at Greeley Square Park, in New York. Thiessen, in partnership with Crest Pro-Health, declared September National Gingivitis Awareness Month to help educate Americans on gingivitis and how they can help prevent and help reverse it using new Crest Pro-Health Clinical Gum Protection.
