I live in an incredible community. We’ve only lived in the North Texas area for 1 1/2 years but it didn’t take long for it to feel like home, and much of that had to do with the people who live in the area. The cities and towns in the Dallas metroplex just kind of flow into each other, and we happen to live right on the border of Lewisville, TX and Flower Mound, TX. The people and places of Flower Mound are just as much a party of our life and community as Lewisville is. People like those that worship at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church, in Flower Mound, TX.
Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church is partnering with Charity: Water to raise $50K to build a water well that will bring clean water to thousands for the first time.
You may have come across the tongue in cheek hashtag #FirstWorldProblems on social media. You know when we complain about our Bluetooth not working or when the coffee shop runs out of our Crème Brulée Mocha, how ridiculous those things are when over 748 million people in the world do not have access to clean water.
Did you know that:
• Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.
• In Africa, alone, people spend 40 billion hours every year walking for water.
• Clean water alone can reduce water-related deaths by 21%.
What a privilege it is for those of us that have much to HELP CHANGE THAT.
“If you are thirsty, come to me and drink! Have faith in me, and you will have life-giving water flowing from deep inside you, just as the Scriptures say.” John 7:37-38 (CEV)
Everyone deserves the basic right to clean water. The congregation at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church wants to help create a thirst for Christ and end thirst in the world.
You can be a part of helping them play a small part in solving the water crisis by donating to their campaign. They want everyone to understand the rich gift of water from God is for everyone, both its spiritual form found in Jesus the everlasting water who sustains our soul, and physical form that sustains our bodies for proper function and growth.
100% of every dollar raised will directly fund water projects. Once the projects are completed, Charity: Water will send pictures and GPS coordinates of the well, so those that have donated can see the actual people and communities they have impacted.
If you find God prompting you to give during this sacrificial season of Lent and Easter please visit Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church to donate and give another family access to clean water.
