The one holiday that calls for the sweet to deliver the sweet is Valentine’s Day. Plan ahead for the showstopper dessert when you cook a meal made with love: a personal expression of love, given from the heart.
Siliconezone is in on the action this Valentine’s Day with their sweet, sentimental and always appropriate pink (of course!) heart-shaped silicone cake mold pan.
What better time to make a Red Velvet Cake than Valentine’s Day, I ask you? So with the Siliconezone Heart Shaped Cake Pan by my side I went to work.
Those of you that know me and read my blog, know that EASY is the way I roll. And this pan let me make a worthy cake for my Valentines in a couple of hours and with virtually no clean up. Sah-weet!
There was a lack of instructions on or in the packaging, and so I had to use some logic when baking my cake. The pan will hold a recipe for a 9×13 cake. I began with spraying the pan with some Pam, just to alleviate any sticking issues I might have. Then I grabbed a couple of 8″ Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake mixes I bought on clearance after Christmas, and followed the instructions on the boxes for those. I used the same temperature setting and baked it for 35 minutes. The cake was still quite gooey at that point, so I put the pan back in the oven for another 15 minutes, and it was baked to perfection.
I’ll note that I’ve had other silicone shaped pans in the past and actually gave them away because I found whenever I baked something in them the goods stayed flat and didn’t rise. I didn’t have a problem at all with that happening with this pan and I actually had to cut some of the top off of the cake before flipping it to frost it so it would sit level.
Silicone allows for even cooking and its flexibility makes for easy, fluid de-molding of the cake from the pan and ready for decoration or frosting. I mean look at all that was left when it came out of the pan! Now that’s easy to clean up 🙂 And the cake came out in perfect shape letting me frost it with ease.
Siliconezone also makes a smaller version of this pan, which would be a perfect way to make a few more varieties of cake flavors for all the Valentines in your family.
