It’s always exciting when Disney Pixar puts out their previous titles on Blu-ray 3D, and on December 4th they released UP on Blu-ray 3D for the first time ever!
“Up” follows the 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his life long dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell. Their journey to a lost world, where they encounter some strange, exotic and surprising characters, is filled with hilarity, emotion and wildly imaginative adventure.
We first saw UP in 3D on one of our Disney Cruises, and I have been waiting to own this title on Blu-ray 3D. I LOVE the story line in this movie, and the Blu-ray 3D version is awesome! The quality of the picture is amazing and when the house is soaring with its balloons and Russell is chasing after Kevin in the ‘lost world’ you feel like you’re completely immersed in the movie!
If you have not added Disney Pixar’s “UP” to your Blu-ray 3D collection, I think you should! There’s plenty of fun in it for the kids, but I truly feel that this movie tells a story all its own for the grown up crowd.
The Bonus Features in the Blu-ray 3D combo set include:
• Cine-Explore (a visual montage that illustrates the directors’ commentary)
• Geriatric Hero (a character study of Carl)
• Canine Companions (an introduction to the design, behavior and language of dogs)
• Russell: Wilderness Explorer (a character study of Russell)
• Our Giant Flightless Friend, Kevin (how this mythical bird was brought to life)
• Homemakers of Pixar (the development of Carl & Ellie’s house)
• Balloons and Flight (how a house and a dirigible can fly)
• Composing for Characters (find out more about this Academy Award winning score)
• Married Life (Carl & Ellie’s Love Story) <== This is a SUPER bonus feature, I loved it!
• Global Guardian Badge Game (geography game) <== learning disguised as fun!
• Commentary (by directors)
• Dug’s Special Mission (original short film)
• The Many Endings of Muntz (alternate endings to see the villain’s end)
• Partly Cloudy (short film)
