Academy Award-winning Best Animated Feature “Finding Nemo” returns to DVD for the first time in thrilling Disney Digital 3D.  In this stunning underwater adventure, with memorable characters, humor and heartfelt emotion, an overly protective clownfish named Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks) and his son Nemo (voiced by Alexander Gould), become separated in the Great Barrier Reef.  Buoyed by the companionship of Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres), a friendly-but-forgetful Pacific regal blue tang, Marlin embarks on a dangerous trek and finds himself the unlikely hero of an epic effort to rescue his son.

This is such a good family movie to spend a cold winter evening all cuddled up on the couch to watch.

I was expectantly waiting to watch this one, because although we have the previous DVD we had not yet seen it yet in 3D.  It’s really no wonder that it received an Academy Award when it was originally released in the theaters in 2003, and it’s even more spectacular in 3D.

It was so great to hear all those great “Dory-isms” (Just keep swimming, just keep swimming) in Dolby Digital sound too.

One of my favorite things about Finding Nemo is the art and production design.  The colors are so vivid and bright in this Blu-ray version, and of course while viewing in 3D the backdrops of the ocean and reefs look very realistic and you feel so immersed in the setting that you really feel like you could reach out and touch it all!

You can get a closer look at the movie with the BONUS FEATURES which includes “Finding Nemo – A Filmmakers’ Roundtable” which I found incredibly interesting.

And there is so much more!  An Aquarium feature (so neat!), the theatrical short film “Knick Knack”, Reinventing the Submarine Voyage, Classic Content, Art Review; are only some of the other bonus content included.

Director Andrew Stanton compares looking at the alternate opening that got replaced to looking at your school photos and worrying that you look like a dork.

  1. We saw this in the theatre and it was great. Kids loved it and we did too. I want to get the 3d version!
