I received a gift card to try out Disney Music Online.  All opinions stated are my own.

For Disney fans of all ages, the vast collection of Disney contemporary hits and timeless classics are now available for online shopping with the launch of Disney digital music store and music gift cards!

Disney music gift cards make music shopping simple and are perfect for graduation, birthdays and other special occasions.  Consumers buy the cards, with face values of $15, $25 and custom variable amounts, at Wal-Mart and grocery retailers everywhere, where cards are activated upon purchase. From there, users may go to the Disney digital music store, enter a code and shop for instant downloads from a menu of over 12,000 tracks.

The catalog of music available at the Disney digital music store includes current hit artists (Selena Gomez, Bridgit Mendler, and Demi Lovato), Disney Channel series and original movie soundtracks (Shake It Up, Austin & Ally, Let It Shine), film soundtracks (Brave, The Muppets, TRON: Legacy), inspired-by compilations (Frankenweenie Unleashed!, Muppets: The Green Album, Almost Alice) plus classic soundtracks (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid), Disney Junior soundtracks (Sofia the First, Jake and the Never Land Pirates),Disney Princess and Fairies compilations, Radio Disney favorites, Spanish language, Songs & Story, and many more.

Disney Music allowed me to test out their service with a gift card to share my thoughts about it with you.

The instructions on the gift card are simple to understand so older kids should have no problems doing it themselves, while younger children will probably need some help from a sibling or parent to redeem it.

Once you’re ready to find songs to purchase Disney helps you out on the home page with a featured artist, top tracks, top albums, new releases and categories to choose from such as classics, soundtracks, sounds and story collections among others.

This is the one place I found the site lacking.  See we own A LOT of Disney music.  Particularly we enjoy the soundtracks to the movies.  So when I clicked on Soundtracks from the main category navigation, I was disappointed to see that there was not a lot to choose from and many of them we already owned.

That’s where the search function comes in handy.  If you know what you’re looking for typing the name of the song or album into the search will help you find it.  Sometimes it doesn’t work.  For instance we were looking for a particular song from Wreck-It Ralph that is not on their “Soundtrack”, by Owl City.  I typed “Owl City” in the search feature but nothing came up from that artist (even though the search feature indicates you can search by artist).  However, when I typed in “When Can I See You Again?”  I was able to find the song.  So the songs are all there….you just have to hunt a bit to find them.

As for selection it really is large when you use the search feature.  I was able to download 12 songs with a $15 gift card.  Two of them were 99₵ and the others were $1.29.  And there really is something for everyone in your family!  Here is what I downloaded:

For our daughter:

Sugar Rush and When Can I See You Again?  from the Wreck-It Ralph movie.
When Will My Life Begin?, I’ve Got a Dream, I See the Light and Something That I Want from the Tangled soundtrack.

For me:

Happy Working Song, True Love’s Kiss, That’s How You Know from the Enchanted soundtrack.

For my husband:

Can You Dig It?  from the Iron Man 3 Soundtrack
Wall-E’s Dance from Wall-E & Eve
John Carter of Mars from the John Carter Soundtrack

No other music/entertainment brand offers such a vast array of top quality family-friendly musical entertainment that parents can trust and feel safe about their kids interacting with. Now parents can allow children to browse and purchase music in the Disney digital music store worry-free!  With a gift card you don’t have to worry about how much your child is downloading and spending, no credit card is needed at all, so they can only spend as much as the card has available on it.

When you click a song to purchase, it then asks you to confirm (which I like), then it changes to processing and then to downloading, where another window will pop up asking where you want to download it to on your computer.  That’s it!  It also tags the song as “Purchased” so you don’t end up buying it again in the future.  And because the songs are formatted as mp3, you can listen to them on any device.

We chose to purchase individual songs, but you can purchase an entire album if you choose.  Just a note that there are some songs that are only available if you purchase the album though.  Another feature that I really like about the site, is that you can always easily see the balance of your gift card so you know how much left you have to spend.
