DESPICABLE ME 3 Opens in Theaters TODAY! + Despicable Me 3 Coloring Pages

Illumination, who brought moviegoers Despicable Me and the biggest animated hits of 2013 and 2015, Despicable Me 2 and Minions, continues the story of Gru, Lucy, their adorable daughters—Margo, Edith and Agnes—and the Minions in Despicable Me 3. 

After he is fired from the Anti-Villain League for failing to take down the latest bad guy to threaten humanity, Gru finds himself in the midst of a major identity crisis.  But when a mysterious stranger shows up to inform Gru that he has a long-lost twin brother—a brother who desperately wishes to follow in his twin’s despicable footsteps—one former super-villain will rediscover just how good it feels to be bad.

Balthazar Bratt is the malevolent villain in this movie.  This character is so fun those of us over 40 😉  80s-themed from top to bottom, Bratt takes villainy to a whole new level with bubble gum and his Sonic Keytar along with his robot sidekick Clive. 

And then there’s Gru and DRU!  Dru is the ying to Gru’s yang.  When Gru and Dru take on Balthazar Bratt, right away my husband nudged me and whispered “Spy vs. Spy.”  Just another nod to those of us who’ve lived a few years longer than the target audience 😉  

But a new brother and uncle aren’t the only family dynamics that are new.  Lucy and ‘the girls’ are also working through their own relationship as mother and daughters.

For us the Minions are always the highlight.  Unlike the purple counterparts in Despicable Me 2, they are back in their full yellow, banana loving glory, and slapstick comedy in Despicable Me 3.  

We have enjoyed all the movies in the Despicable Me/Minions franchise and we as adults were entertained by Despicable Me 3 and if the laughter was any indication in the theater those young tots in the audience were entertained as well.
