A while ago I saw an advertisement in a magazine for a book release. It was one of the books in the Debbie Macomber series Cedar Cove. I had never heard of it before and had not read any of them, but the cover looked interesting as did the synopsis. I decided to borrow the first book in the series from our library and liked it a lot. When I went to borrow the second book, I had to be put on the hold list because there was a wait for it. And then I found out the reason why…because Cedar Cove was coming to TV.
Because of conflicting shows on that my husband wanted to watch and DVR (sigh), I never got a chance to tune into to it when the first season aired. Fortunately for me it was released on DVD mid-July, and I received a media sample of it to view.
Starring Andie MacDowell, Hallmark Channel’s first-ever original scripted series is based on the bestselling book series by #1 New York Times bestselling author, Debbie Macomber, a leading voice in women’s fiction with more than 160 million copies of her books in print. “Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove” was number one in its time slot during its entire first season run, elevating Hallmark Channel to the number one cable network on Saturdays from 8-9 pm.
Co-starring Dylan Neal and filled with breathtaking scenery, the touching drama follows municipal judge Olivia Lockhart (MacDowell) who resides in the small town of Cedar Cove. Recovering from both a divorce and the death of her son, Lockhart works to find a balance between the challenges of her family and her career, while a potential new romance arises.
The second season of the fan-favorite series debuted on Sunday, July 20 on the Hallmark Channel.
I was completely captivated as soon as I started watching. Because I have read the first few books I of course was already acquainted with the characters, and watching made me want to pick up the books again. While my husband would describe it as a “chick flick,” it’s good wholesome entrainment, that I enjoy watching. The acting supports the great writing that Debbie Macomber breathed into the town of Cedar Cove and the characters and Hallmark Channel did a super job casting and producing it.
