Boston’s Restaurant Valentine’s Day No Kid Hungry Campaign

I was provided with some gifts and food from Boston’s Restaurants at no cost to myself, but my passion for helping kids that go hungry is all my own, and I was honored to be able to take part in an event that is raising awareness for this plight of children in America.

This past Tuesday at Boston’s Restaurant I had the chance to participate in a good ol’ fashion bake-off amongst fellow Dallas area bloggers.  Boston’s head chef Lupe, showed us how to create the ultimate Heart-Shaped Pizza like a pro.  We got numerous toppings to use, and after we assembled our pizzas, they were taken back to be cooked and wham-bam, they were ready to be judged!

While we were waiting for the pizzas to be baked, Katie Borger the spokesperson for Boston’s Pizza & Sports Bar and the Boston’s Cares national campaign let us know how families at home can get involved in their partnership with No Kid Hungry.

Families can go to their local Boston’s Restaurant and order a heart shaped pizza between February 13 and February 15.  $1 from the sale of every pizza between now and February 15 (heart shaped or not!) will be donated to Share Our Strength No Kid Hungry, as well as the opportunity to donate however much one wants with Paper Hearts at the table (like the one shown below). Guests can write their name and post the hearts up around their local Boston’s.  $1 is 10 meals for a hungry child!

“More than 16 million kids in America live in households that struggle to put food on the table, but through programs like Boston’s Cares, {Share Our Strength No Kid Hungry} is able to provide the much needed support these children so desperately need.”  16 million by the way is 1 in 5 kids.  Shocking isn’t it?

And guess what?

My Hawaiian inspired pizza “The PineAPPLE of my Pizza Pie” was the winner of the #BloggerBakeOff !!!!!

And I KNOW y’all are jealous of this huge check I got to sign (I’ve always wanted one of these!!)

My winning pizza means that No Kid Hungry will get a $150 donation from the Boston’s Cares Foundation in my name 🙂  Thank you Boston’s Cares.

Boston’s didn’t want us to have to ‘break’ our heart pizzas (ha ha and that is a good thing because that pizza was my husband’s dinner!), so they gave us some of their fantastic starters; fried pickles and banana peppers and nachos to quell those rumbling tummies!

And then they brought out a pizza flight.  Oh my gosh you guys these are so cute (and tasty!)

I was thrilled to be able to attend the “Blogger Bake-Off” event at Boston’s Restaurant and hope that if you all are planning on dining out on Valentine’s Day weekend and have a Boston’s Restaurant in your area, that you celebrate with a heart shaped pizza to trigger a donation to No Kid Hungry, and maybe even fill out one of those hearts to provide a few more of those 16 million hungry kids with food to fill them up.

You can find Boston’s Restaurant locations on their website.

What toppings would you put on your heart shaped pizza?
