If you’re a fan of Treme on HBO then you probably caught the New Orleans critically-acclaimed drama for its fourth and final season premiere on December 1st.  To commemorate Treme’s closing chapter, HBO Global Licensing launched a cookbook based on the vibrant series – Treme: Stories and Recipes from the Heart of New Orleans, created by Treme story editor, award-winning food writer and New Orleans native Lolis Eric Elie.

This cookbook contains recipes from some of the top names in the business, from Emeril Lagasse and David Chang to Eric Ripert and John Besh. There’s even a foreword by none other than Anthony Bourdain himself! Cajun cuisine has been on the rise for a few years now and this book features mouthwatering recipes – Creole Roasted Turkey, Roasted Satsuma-Sweet Potatoes, Beignets, Mudslide Cookies and Sazerac – to create the perfect NOLA-inspired holiday party.

Even if you don’t watch the show, there are still plenty of interesting reasons to pick up this book and its compilation of interesting recipes along with notes and bios of the actors and the food selections within its pages.  I wished I had more time right now to dabble in some of them, but I did make the Mudslide Cookie recipe with a couple of changes that is in the book and my family couldn’t stop eating them.  If that’s what all the recipes are like, this book will be a winner hands down!

Whether you’re a casual or hardcore fan of the television series, or a wanna-be chef, or both, this is your chance to get in depth with the characters in the kitchen from the critically acclaimed HBO series.

Treme: Stories and Recipes from the Heart of New Orleans, is available on Amazon.com and costs $22.86 for hardcover and $12.49 for the Kindle version. For more information visit http://www.chroniclebooks.com/titles/treme-8482.html.

  1. I cannot believe I have not seen this series, and I have HBO. I'll need to remedy that!

  2. This does sound fantastic! I love the show, but hadn't realized there was a cookbook out. It would have been fun to watch the season premier with snacks. Oh well, maybe I'll do a finale party.

  3. My husband would LOVE this book! He really enjoys cooking, plus, he's is a huge Eric Ripert and Anthony Bourdain fan, so I know the included stories would really make his day.
