I got an advanced copy of The Muppets Wocka Wocka Value Pack to check out with my family thanks to Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. Of course, considering all three off us in our family are huge Disney fans we were thrilled to be able to do a review on this.
The Muppets Wocka Wocka Value Pack has three discs (Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy) as well as a Soundtrack Download Card. It retails for $49.99 but you know pre-orders on Amazon are always a good deal (wink) – and usually the first week of release many retailers are featuring the DVDs on sale – PLUS there is this great coupon you can use for a limited time for an additional $5.00 off.
In case you missed what The Muppets is about here is a synopsis of the movie:
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, his brother Gary (Jason Segel) and Gary’s girlfriend, Mary (Amy Adams), from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze Muppet Studios and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage a telethon and raise the $10 million needed to save the studio, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called The Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.
When she was little, our daughter was thoroughly addicted to The Muppets Treasure Island. She would watch that DVD over and over and over again. Besides The Muppet attraction at Disney Hollywood Studios that was really the only experience she’s had with The Muppets. My husband and I as children though spent many evenings watching The Muppet Show on TV.
All three of us absolutely loved this movie. Our 15 year old daughter had already seen it in the theaters with a friend, and she was still really excited to see it at home with us. The movie is funny, with classic Muppet humor and musical numbers.
When I looked at my husband as we were watching the DVD, and saw how much he was enjoying it, I burst out laughing. I think he originally sat down to watch it with us, ‘just to be nice’, but he thought it was pretty good.
After watching the movie, we watched some of the bonus features which include:
• The Longest Blooper Reel Ever Made (In Muppet History––We Think) – A laugh out loud look at the actors’funny gaffs and gags from behind the scenes of making Disney’s “The Muppets.”
• Disney Intermission – Groundbreaking Blu-ray feature. Pausing a movie will never be this much fun, as the Muppets take over the screen every time you stop the disc!
• Scratching The Surface: A Hasty Examination of the Making of Disney’s “The Muppets.” Hosted by unit production manager monster J.G., the cast and crew take a behind the scenes look at making Muppet and movie history.
• Explaining Evil: The Full Tex Richman Song. Rapping his way through the story of his miserable life, Tex tells audiences why he turned out to be such a rotten guy.
• A Little Screen Test on the way to the Read Through. This hilarious footage follows the Muppet gang as they go to their first table reading of the script.
• Eight Deleted Scenes
• Audio Commentary with Jason Segel, James Bobin and Nicholas Stoller
• The Combo Pack also comes with the popular theatrical spoof trailers
• The Complete Soundtrack
