The Bzz About Elmer’s CraftBond and X-ACTO Designer Series

Have you checked out the memory keeping aisle of Walmart recently?  That’s where you’ll find the new collection of essential crafting products from Elmer’s CraftBond and X-ACTO.

These two trusted brands teamed up to let you unleash your creativity!  Elmer’s CraftBond and X-ACTO have products from glue sticks to tape runners to decorative edge scissors.

Whether you’re a scrabooking beginner or experienced crafter, Elmer’s CraftBond adhesives and X_ACTO tools will help you create keepsakes that will be cherished for generations.  So let me show you some of their products.

Elmer’s CraftBond

Products in this line include glue sticks, glue pens, gel pens, sticky spots, tape dispensers and runners and more.  Prices range from $2 to $9.  All of the adhesives are acid-free and archival safe.

X-ACTO Designer Series

You’ll find top quality scissors, trimmers, rulers, punches, knives and cutting mats, costing between $2 to $20.

So what did I think about these products?

I was impressed with the quality of the X-ACTO products.  I found the Scalloped Edge scissors I received didn’t produce the edge I was expecting, but they still worked and they cut very well.  I loved the Zig Zag decorative edge scissors I received.  They gave me the kind of edge I was looking for.

The X-ACTO Corner Round Punch is made very well.  It’s got a good metal punch, not plastic like some brands.  With one press down I was able to make a perfect rounded corner.

I wasn’t as impressed with the Elmer’s CraftBond products.

The Permanent Tape Runner was very difficult to use.  Essentially it has sticky tape on a runner.  You need to press down hard and drag it at a 45 degree angle.  It didn’t roll consistently, and I tried a number of times and just got frustrated so gave up using it.  Either I didn’t apply it properly the first time, or the adhesive is not very strong because after applying my paper piece, later when checking it, it peeled right off.

I didn’t end up using the sticky spots, because they were not appropriate for the type of craft I was doing.  I do think these would work great for 3D embellishments in scrapbooking or cards.

The All-Purpose Glue Stick seemed to work fine, it glided along the paper nicely.  My favorite CraftBond product is the Clear Glue Pen.  Because you can choose from a thin tip or a wide tip, it works well with just about any product.  Here it was great for the thin line of glue I needed to attach my card inset.
