Are you ready to move out? Picture this scenario. You have someone moving into your current place in a few weeks time, but your new property either hasn’t been found yet, or isn’t going to be ready in time. What do you do? You may want to ask the new people living there if they can wait a little longer if you have a date of when you will be able to leave, or you’re going to have to find an alternative arrangement. The latter is what we’re going to be looking at today, so if you are interested in learning a little more about this, keep reading.
Items In Storage
If you have a lot of stuff, then you’re going to want to hire a storage unit to keep it all in. They are not usually expensive so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem to get things in there, other than what you are going to need in the immediate future. Just make sure that when you choose a self storage place that they are open 24 hours. You don’t want to be denied entry to get your own items simply because of something as trivial as the time.
At least by putting your items in storage, you know that they are safe. You don’t have to worry about them because you have packed them up well!
Short Term Rentals
It’s also worth looking into short term rentals in your area, or the area that you are moving to. You can search for queries such as apartments in Washington DC online and you should find some fantastic listings. If you’re purchasing a home, but it’s not gone through yet, see if you can get a completion date as this will tell you how long you have to rent for. If you don’t have one of these, see if the landlord will allow you to have a rolling contract, basically meaning you are on month to month.
Make It An Adventure
We completely understand that it’s hard to be displaced like this, so why not try to make it an adventure? It doesn’t always work, but perhaps you are staying with your parents until things get sorted out, or until you can find a rental to go for. No matter the reason, try to make it as much of an adventure as you can. Try out new things, research, and so much more. If you can keep a positive mental attitude, this is going to be ideal for such a stressful situation, so take a deep breath, and remind yourself that it will all work out in the end.
The last thing that anyone wants is more problems to be created, but unfortunately they are not always avoidable. Our best piece of advice is to simply work through the obstacles that life throws up one at a time, and get to your new place as soon as you can. It might take a while, but you will be glad that you did it when it’s all over and done with.
