Plugging in is so 2009, what we all want is wireless charging.  And the Powermat system lets you do just that.

This sleek and convenient line of products allows you to pair different devices for easy charging whether it’s for your phone, tablet or other usb enabled device.  It’s also extremely portable, so you won’t be at a loss for power any where you go.  The Powermat system has completely replaced any other way of charging mobile devices in our home, it’s as simple as dropping the our phones on the mat, and it takes up so little space.

You can find Powermats in a variety of sizes – for 1 device to keep around for charging convenience, for 2 devices (like the one shown in my photos), and even for 3 devices, which is great for families to create a charging hub in a frequently used space like the den or the kitchen counter.  Drop it and charge it!

You can also get a TravelMat which is a 2 in 1 portable battery and wireless charging mat.  You can connect your USB devices or simply lay down your Duracell Powermat enabled smartphone on top to charge wirelessly.  How neat is that?  This one needs to be plugged into a wall to get it charged in order to power other devices, but it’s small enough to pop into a handbag, backpack or carryon to take with you on the go.

What you’ll need to ‘drop and charge’ (as I like to call it!), are wireless cases.  Currently those are available for iPhone 4/4S, 5/5S and Samsung S3.

You know how it is, the times you need your phone the most is when you find your battery is nearly dead.  I could have used some GoPower Universal Batteries when I was in Ohio in spring.  After Tweeting, Facebooking, using the camera and checking e-mail all day, by the time I got to the airport and needed to arrange alternate travel plans because of weather delays, my battery was dead.  I was literally standing by the sinks in the ladies restroom charging my phone because it was the only free outlet I could find.  That’s just a bit awkward by the way.

The GoPower Universal Batteries come in a variety of sizes to fit your specific needs; The Day Trip has you covered as a perfect daily power companion.  It’s compact and portable and will help you finish out your day if your phone battery is on its last leg.  I love this one – it’s the perfect fit for when I need more battery juice.

Then there is the Overnighter which is small enough to fit in your pocket, yet powerful enough to charge a tablet and give you up to 2 extra charges on your smartphone.

And then there is the Long Haul.  Maximum power for when you need your smartphone, table and other USB devices going for days.  Once it’s fully charged from your Powermat you can take it with you for the ‘long haul.’

Let me tell you, as I’m writing this, I have each of these charging up ready to go in case this Icepocalypse called Cleon knocks our power out.  Having these portable batteries on hand to keep in touch with family and friends if we lose power is pretty priceless.

I think these products make fabulous Christmas presents.  A 24-hour Power System starts at $74.99 or you can buy a Wireless Case and Powermat for as low as $65.98.

If you’re looking for another reason to get some Powermat products here’s a good one, they are in the process of installing Powermats into a growing number of public places including Starbucks, McDonalds, and Madison Square Garden so soon you’ll be able to pop in to your local Starbucks, place your phone on a mat installed directly into the counter or table, and recharge your phone as you recharge with a cup of coffee!

What do you think is the best feature of the Powermat Products?  How would it make your life more convenient?

  1. This is such a fantastic idea! The two device mat would be perfect for my household. I love the idea of dropping and charging my phone when I get home…plus it would cut down on me putting it in random places!

  2. I really want a Powermat! I usually charge my phone next to my bed, but when baby comes next month I'll be moving my nightstand to make room for the bassinet & won't have a place to charge it at night anymore.

  3. I could sure use a Day Trip pack or two for our upcoming Disneyland trip next week. I'm worried about my battery lasting the entire day and into the evening for dinner and fireworks!

  4. I would really love to try the Travel Mat- as soon as it's available for Droids. If that happens. Very cool and handy product.

  5. My husband and I totally need one of these — our phones are dying all the time and this would be super handy to have rather than putting it on our chargers every time.

  6. I have to get one of these charging mats. I haven't really given them much consideration before, but they look great!
