Pepper In Some Fun (and Great Food) at Chili’s

I’m not one who likes to wait in a crowd to get a table in a restaurant, so we seldom if ever eat out on holidays.  This year was no exception, so we went out for my Mother’s Day dinner the Monday after.

I chose to go to Chili’s because we had not eaten there for a while and I had a gift card.

We don’t eat out often, but when we do we seem to return to the same few restaurants again and again, and Chili’s is one of them.

There are a number of reasons I like eating at Chili’s.  One is because it’s very affordable.  Also, I’ve never had a bad meal or service at our local Chili’s establishment.  Another reason is because they are always adding new things to their menus.

I wasn’t disappointed with the new menu selections this time we went either.  So many to choose from!

I decided to go with the new BBQ Pork Sandwich.  Spicy slaw and pulled pork and caramalized onions are topped with gouda cheese on a sesame bun, served with Chili’s Shiner Bock BBQ sauce.  there was so much meat on the bun, it kept sliding out, so I ended up having to eat it with my fork and knife!

The sandwich comes with fries, but I decide to substitute mine with a bowl of the new Sweet Corn Soup.  Topped with fire grilled corn and green onions, this soup was delicious!  I wanted another bowl of it when I was done.

Amber loves the ribs at Chili’s.  She has them all the time when we go there.  She usually gets the original sauce but this time she mixed it up and got the new Shiner Bock BBQ Sauce on them.  She really liked the flavor (she was kind of worried it was going to taste like beer) and said that it was sweet but zippy.  I agree because I slathered added a good amount to my sandwich.

Hubby is not very adventerous, he stuck to an old standby favorite the Chicken Crispers.  Nothing wrong with chowing down on a classic dish though, it’s still on the menu for a reason!  His corn on the cob looked so yummy, but he wouldn’t share 🙁

Of course every good meal ends in an even better dessert!  We chose to share the Molten Chocolate Cake and the new Brownie Sundae.   Both were indulgently delicious!

It was a great Mother’s Day dinner.  There were so many other new dishes on the menu like the Asian Salad, Santa Fe Chicken Wrap and the Crispy Shrimp Tacos, I think I would have liked any of those choices!  I did enjoy my BBQ Pork Sandwich very much though.

Chili’s is also running a promotion called “Shout Out to Eat Out“.  The contest is centered around telling Chili’s why you don’t want to cook tonight.  You could be entered to win a gift card to Chili’s everyday until August 30, 2010.

To enter the contest upload a 10 to 30 second video telling them why you don’t want to cook tonight.  One winner each day will be selected at random.

If you have a chance to eat at Chili’s and try one of their new dishes, let me know what you thought of them.  In the meantime I’m looking forward to meeting a friend soon for Chili’s Bottomless Express Lunch!

  1. I might be addicted to the Sweet Corn Soup. I actually had it last night when we went there!
