If you’re in the mood for some popcorn with a bit of seasoning try sprinkling some parmesan on it. Here’s an easy recipe that you can make in the microwave but tastes just like stove top popped. Much tastier than store bought micro-wave popcorn.
PARMESAN POPCORN
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1/3 cup popping corn kernels
1 1/2 tablespoon melted margarine
1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheesePlace oil on the bottom of a microwave bowl that has a lid that can be vented. I use the Nordicware Microwave Popcorn Popper, but as long as the steam can be let out any kind should do. Alternatively you can use a paper lunch sack, and seal it up by folding and using scotch tape to keep it down.
If you want your popcorn evenly salted, you can add your salt to the oil, rather than adding it later.
Pop the kernels anywhere from 2 minutes 15 seconds to 2 minutes 30 seconds. Of course it could vary from that time too. When you hear just a few seconds between pops, it’s probably ready to come out.
Remove from the microwave when finished, but don’t open the lid/bag. Keep it warm. Melt your margarine now. Then you can lift the lid and pour the margarine on and sprinkle the parmesan cheese on top of the popcorn evenly.
Enjoy! You will find only a few unpopped kernels this way – in the last batch I made I only had 9 that didn’t pop!
