Thanks to a gift card provided to us at no cost, I had a chance to try out the NEW menu items at Taco Cabana the other day. The limited-time only Flame-Grilled Chicken Tacos and Premium Lunazul Tequila Margarita .
For our family Taco Cabana is the place to go for Mexican food. My husband is admittedly not a big fan of Mexican food and so Taco Cabana is a great place for us because he still finds food on the menu he likes and enjoys since a lot of their fare comes without all the extras pre-loaded on it. So when I have a hankering for delicious tacos, Taco Cabana is where we head to. The serve yourself fresh Salsa Bar is one of the best parts of Taco Cabana since you can add to your meal with the variety they have no matter whether you lean to the mild side or the hot, hot, hot choices 🙂
The Flame-Grilled Chicken Tacos are each made with savory chicken breasts seasoned with a fajita spice blend. There are three flavors to choose from:
• Grilled Peppers & Onions with Salsa Roja (sautéed red and green peppers, blend of grilled onions, diced tomatoes, Salsa Roja and a squeeze of fresh lime juice)
• Roasted Poblanos, Ranchero & Cheese (roasted Poblano chiles, melted Cheddar and Monterrey Jack cheeses and slow-simmered Ranchero Sauce)
• Bacon & Jalapeño with Salsa Ranch (melted Cheddar and Jack cheeses, roasted jalapeño chiles, Salsa Ranch and thick-cut, double-smoked Bacon)
The tacos were hot and fresh and….very, very good. Seeing as I’m not a huge heat seeker I thought the Grilled Peppers & Onions with Salsa Roja was great and the best of the three for my mild taste buds LOL 🙂 The Roasted Poblanos, Ranchero & Cheese was good as well. But honestly if you aren’t scared of the punch that the Jalapeños give, you can’t go wrong with any of them. There’s no chintzing on the bacon either, I mean look at that big piece 😉
The Flame-Grilled Chicken Tacos are $2.29 each or mix and match any three for $5.99. Tax not included. They are only available for a Limited Time though, so if you want to try them be sure to stop by. I’ll definitely be going back again for the Flame-Grilled Chicken with Grilled Peppers & Onions with Salsa Roja tacos before the limited promotion is over.
The new house-made Premium Margaritas are made with 100% Blue Agave Lunazul Tequila. Lunazul Tequila comes from a 250-year-old family tradition and is hand-crafted and distilled in small batches for consistent high-quality flavor. Lunazul Tequila is an award-winning tequila for great taste and exceptional quality.
The Margarita was solid and for just $3 during Happy Hour (4 PM – 7 PM daily) that alone is worth a visit. Am I selfish in saying.. I’m so glad this is a PERMANENT item on the Taco Cabana menu 😉 But even at $5.75 for the 12 oz beverage outside of Happy Hour, it’s a pretty good deal.
While we had no need to order this I also want to let you know that there is a new Taco Cabana Kids’ Meal which includes breaded 100% white meat, antibiotic-never chicken bites, choice of rice & beans or chips & queso, choice of Mott’s® Apple Juice or kids’ drink, 2 flour tortillas and a chocolate chip cookie for $4.99. All other Taco Cabana Kids’ Meals now include guest choice of Mott’s® Apple Juice or kids’ drink and a chocolate chip cookie as well.
Info for the locals: While we have a number of area Taco Cabanas within driving distance of our home, we usually hit up the Taco Cabana on Stemmons Freeway in Lewisville. The restaurant is always tidy and clean and has a friendly and helpful staff.
