As part of the Live Secure Safety Squad I am compensated and receive samples of Master Lock products. All opinions are my own.
One look around my neighborhood and I understand why May was picked as National Moving Month. Within days, signs on lawns move from ‘For Sale’ to ‘Under Contract’ to ‘Sold’. We actually will be getting new neighbors this month as our current ones sold their home last month.
We’ve moved a number of times over the years, and I know firsthand how frustrating it can be. Whether you are packing everything up and hauling it across the country, needing to use storage for an interim amount of time or moving it truck load by truck load within the same city, you want your possessions and memories to be secure during your move.
We’ve been fortunate and not had issues with missing items with our moves, but if you’re planning a move, having a couple of Master Lock products on hand for some additional assurance in the security of your items.
• Portable Lock Box – While you’re finalizing the sale of your home, you may find that you may have more people coming into the home in order to get it ready for the new owners. You also may not be able to always be there for the contractors, carpet cleaners or other service people that may need access. A (lock box) for a trusted neighbor or friend to have access to a key in order to let the workers in is a great idea.
The Master Lock 5422D Portable Push Button Lock Box has an over the door knob design for portable installation. You can set your own combination using up to 12 letters, numbers, or both. With large buttons it is easy to use, even in low light conditions. The large internal cavity leaves room for keys and other items you want to keep secure. The Limited Lifetime Warranty provides peace of mind from a brand you can trust.
• Bluetooth Smart Padlock – When the day to load up and move has arrived, having your priceless items in a container with a lock and moving them yourself is a good idea. Whether it’s cash, jewelry or just sentimental items, this is a case of better safe than sorry when it comes to moving.
Having those kind of valuable items in a weather proof container along with a lock is a smart thing to do. When boxes and tubs are being shuffled from driveways to garages and everything seems chaotic, you know that they will stay safe and secure.
With the Master Lock Bluetooth Smart Padlock you don’t have to worry about remembering a combination or finding a key to unlock it when you’re ready to unpack, all you need is your smartphone and the free Master Lock Vault eLocks app you’re good to go.

You can share 24/7 access with a trusted individual or family member or limit access to certain days or nights, plus you can monitor the access history and receive tamper alerts. The Master Lock 4401 DLH Bluetooth Smart Outdoor Padlock has a 2-piece weather cover for maximum outdoor protection, which is great news if you’re moving on a rainy day.
• Master Lock Vault – Trying to keep track of paperwork during a move can be extremely stressful. The Master Lock Vault helps consumers reduce stress by providing a free ‘online safety deposit box’ to store their important information.
When we moved it was a great resource to be able to keep track of new account information for our utilities, paperwork that the title company needed, and other information pertinent to our move. It was additional protection to have copies of all our important documents and contracts that we were able to access with an online connection from a computer or our phones.
Other helpful tips I’ve learned throughout numerous moves is to replace exterior locks with BCC0615 Door Locks to ensure that as the new tenant or owner, you control how many keys exist. Also, when you are moving, you are bound to have numerous people in and out of your new and old home and they could be going through your stuff. Store confidential paperwork and important documents like passports, birth certificates, social security cards and more in a locked safe, such as the Sentry Safe H0100 Small Privacy Lock Chest. Lastly, make sure to invest in bike locks for your bikes while you are out and about, such as the Master Lock 8300D Bike Lock to secure your ride while you are out and about.
In my experience the most stressful part of moving is the actual move. Knowing that your belongings are more secure with reliable Master Lock products protecting them when they aren’t in your sight can take some of that stress off your shoulders. That’s one less thing to worry about during your move.
Awesome tips, we’re moving soon too so I’m glad to read them and get some ideas.
I like that key lock holder, kind of like the ones real estate companies have on the doors when they are for sale. I’ve always found Master Lock to be made of robust materials, and their products are pretty easy to use.
We love Master Lock products because they are so durable and long lasting.
