As a Master Lock Live Secure Safety Squad Ambassador, I have received compensation and products for my family to use in my home for our safety and security. Any opinions I share in posts related to the Live Secure Safety Squad and Master Lock are my own.
When my parents were in their 60s they decided to sell their large home and downsize to apartment living. With less maintenance and a lock and leave set up this opened up their retirement future to more traveling.
And traveling they have done. From doing 3-month mission trips to Africa, taking tour excursions in Israel, joining us on a cruise to Alaska, soaking up the sun in Mexico, going back to their birth country of Germany and more, those two have globe trotted to destinations and done some pretty great things in the last 10 years.
My siblings and I worry for their safety when they travel though. We make sure my mom always purchases extra health coverage when they book a trip. Now that they are in their 70s what once could have been a stumble on a sidewalk could turn into a major medical event.
My parents are also very trusting souls. They enjoy conversation and make friends everywhere they go. This can be good … and bad. Because we all know that crooks and scammers prey on senior citizens. While I think it’s awesome that they always look for the best in people, I also know that they can be taken advantage of if they’re not careful. That includes leaving items out and unsecured in whatever residence they happen to be in when they travel. Whether that is a hotel room, rented condo, ship cabin or a mud hut; because not everywhere they stay has an included safe.
As part of the Master Lock Live Secure Safety Squad I received a Master Lock SafeSpace. I am excited to give this to my parents the next time I see them, so they can use it for their future trips.
The Master Lock SafeSpace will allow them to Lock Up & Lock Down when they travel. They can lock up their valuables with the cable wrapped tightly to the safe or wrapped securely around a fixed object.
Since it’s Lightweight & Portable they are also more likely to actually use it 🙂 It protects phones, small cameras, cash, credit cards, jewelry, keys, passports, and other small valuables.
Since it features the ability to Set Your Own Combination, they don’t have to remember a random 4 digit code, rather they can make it something relevant to them so that it will be easier to recall.
Mom can also register her Combo for the SafeSpace on MasterLockVault.com. So should she forget it (because if she doesn’t remember it, there’s no way Dad will, lol!), she can hop on the Wi-Fi with her tablet, open the app and access it.
That’s also a great place for them to store digital copies of their important documents like flight info, immunization records, prescription meds, passport numbers, etc., in the case of an emergency.
Do you have any tips or resources for seniors in regards to traveling safely and securely?
