I’m probably one of the only people on the planet who doesn’t watch American Idol, so the name Jason Castro meant nothing to me before I was contacted to review his new self titled CD.
Quite honestly I was a bit apprensive to listen to the dreadlocked singer as he appeared to be somewhat of a hooligan to this middle aged mama, but I figured I’d give the tracks a once over and send my regrets to the company that contacted me and let them know, his songs just weren’t for me.
To my complete surprise, I loved the tracks on the CD and his voice is amazing. I listened to the songs over and over again, and since I was only able to stream the music (not download), I may just have to get this new CD!
Jason’s debut album was released on April 13th. I encourage you to take a listen to some of the previews of the tracks if you have your head in the sand like me and haven’t heard him sing before, specifically his Idol hit “Over the Rainbow”.
I do remember him from American Idol, and I liked him on the show. I’ll have to check out this CD. His pictures are a little weird though?!? Kinda girly.
Tammy…I loved reading your comments and how surprised you were after listening to Jason’s CD! You should hear Jason LIVE…He’s even better! If you have a chance to go to one of his concerts, do it! You will not be disappointed! Jason has a very large group of fans in their 30’s, 40’s and well above..me included! I have been a loyal fan from the very beginning and I’m always amazed at how his voice and stage presence keeps getting better and better. There’s no doubt about it…Jason is a beautiful young man inside and out and there is nothing hooligan about him! It goes to show that you can’t judge a book by the cover and in Jason’s case, I highly recommend learning more about this genuinely nice young man at his official site: jasoncastromusic.com or at his many fan sites, including thedreadheads.com where you will find many other women much like yourself, I guarantee!
Do yourself a favor and get his 14 song CD from his site (jasoncastromusic.com) or from Amazon. The version sold in stores has fewer songs. Or, better yet, go to one of his shows and buy it there. If you want to know more about the "real guy behind the dreads", go to http://www.iamsecond.com and watch his short video. You will be pleasantly surprised.
I’ll definitely check his CD out! He was one of our favorites when we watched the show that year 🙂
