I try and always shave with a little moisturizer on my razor to help with any razor burn.
Try a shaving lotion instead of shaving cream, it works better for some people!
You shaving cream and glide the razor slowly. You are more likely to nick your self if you do quick movements.
Avoid dull blades since they might cause a cut or bad shave.

Thanks for the giveaway…shaving tip: do not wash your face with soap before shaving, use hot water only; the extra oils left on your face, combined with your usual gel or shaving cream, will give you a closer, irritation-free shave. Wash your face with soap only after you finish shaving !

Shave in the shower, the humidity and moisture will soften your skin to give a closer shave without as many nicks.
My tip is to make sure to replace your razor regularly or you risk cutting yourself and/or not effectively removing the hair you are shaving.
