Disney Releases The Lion King Blu-ray on August 29

Start humming the song Circle of Life.  Now add “Pink Pajamas Penguins on the Bottom, Pink Pajamas Penguins on the Bottom..”  you KNOW that’s what it sounds like right?!  LOL that’s a fun line from one of the comedians we saw on the Disney Magic a number of years ago, and now I think about that every time I hear Circle of Life but I digress…

Lion King Blu-ray

23 years?!  Where has the time gone?  I actually can’t believe that The Lion King was first released back in 1994.  Our daughter was born in 1996 and our VHS copy was played on repeat for MANY years during her childhood.  That copy is long gone so to say we are excited to add this classic Disney movie back to our collection is an understatement.

One of the biggest animated films in history, The Lion King, the coming-of-age masterpiece, filled with humor and heart, breathtaking animation and soul-stirring Academy Award®–winning music (1994: Best Original Score and Best Original Song, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”), joins the highly celebrated Walt Disney Signature Collection.   The Lion King roars to its rightful place in the Walt Disney Signature Collection.  It released on Digital August 15th and will be released on Blu-ray™ August 29th.

The Lion King has always been one of my family’s favorite Disney movies.  The characters are so appealing, Timon and Pumbaa’s comedic relief (I mean really, Dance the Hula!… that is so funny!), the spunky attitude of Simba, the wisdom of Rafiki and of course my favorite (and completely underrated in my opinion!) uptight, dignified and nervous wreck, Zazu (That’s probably why I relate well to Zazu LOL!).

Audiences will fall in love all over again with the treasured classic, and a new generation of fans will laugh with Timon and Pumbaa, cry with Simba and Mufasa, burst into song, and find their place in the “Circle of Life.”

And don’t say “Oh, I’ve seen it, whatever.” BECAUSE The Walt Disney Signature Collection release includes over three hours of classic bonus material and exclusive, brand new features inviting viewers to sing along with the film’s award-winning music, observe recording sessions, step inside the story room, witness the evolution of a villain, and join Nathan Lane (voice of Timon) and Matthew Broderick (voice of Adult Simba) for an extended conversation regarding the legacy of “The Lion King.”

Make sure to grab your own copy of The Lion King on Blu-Ray while it’s available! Have a movie night with the kids and print off these ideas for some food and some character masks too!

  1. My son loves it and that makes my heart warm. I remember seeing in the theater at least 4 times when I was younger.
