If you are like me, then in the past few weeks you have been baking up a storm.  I’m not a huge creative person in the kitchen, but at Christmas I do like to try a few new things.  I’d like to share some baking mixes with you that I received from a company called Dassant, that will allow you to make baked goods simply but still with a homemade taste.  I received the following three mixes as well as a Vanilla Bean Cake Mix to try, see what I made with them.  The scale in our home, inching upward, has made me put the Vanilla Bean mix on the shelf for now!

Yesterday was the one day I had planned to have guests in this month, and wouldn’t you know it…a blizzard warning!  But you know I took advantage of being inside all day and spent some of it in my kitchen cooking and baking,  and I got good use out of my Oneida Stainless Steel Mixing Bowls.

This three piece mixing bowl set is a steal at just $22.99 (regularly $65!).  It includes a 5 qt, 3 qt and 2 qt bowl, that all nest inside each other to save storage space.  It’s made of quality stainless steel, and is dishwasher safe, although it’s recommended that you handwash.  I’ve done both, and really they come out fine from the dishwasher, but they are easy to hand wash as well.

About a year and a half ago I was fortunate enough to win a giveaway on another blog for an Exergen Temporal Scanner.

I was really wondering before we received it whether it was “that much” better than the ear thermometer we currently owned, as we found our ear thermometer quite good, except when the fever was accompanied by an ear infection, ouch!

When we were engaged my husband and I watched the re-make ‘Father of the Bride’ movie.  There is a scene in the movie where the young guy gives his bride-to-be a blender for a gift.  Right then and there I made my husband promise me that he would NEVER gift me a blender.
